' Ole GunnarSolskjaer is set for more Transfers '

Cardiff City manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer set for more transfer action after securing former Manchester United FC duo
Monday 13th Jan 2014.

The Norwegian is leading the chase for winger Wilfried Zaha and is still keen to land Hannover striker Mame Diouf

Solskjaer is keen to add more players

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to turn to the transfer market again this week as he looks to boost his relegation-threatened squad following Saturday's defeat against rivals West Ham.

Solskjaer will aim to add to his transfer business to give such hopes a boost after sealing a deal to land teenage midfield talent Mats Moller Daehli having snapped up Magnus Wolff Eikrem earlier in the week.

Both former Manchester United starlets, City remain favourites to land another young Old Trafford ace with Wilfried Zaha understood to be keen on linking up with Solskjaer once David Moyes gives the proposed loan deal his blessing.

But Solskjaer will have to weigh-up whether to move again for ex-United striker Mame Diouf after Hannover reportedly turned down an opening £2.5m bid for the 26-year-old.

Still, the new City chief got his second new face in the bag after Daehli completed his move from Molde despite interest from United in taking him back to Old Trafford.

And while Solskjaer was unwilling to disclose the fee - “I don’t think we have to put more pressure on the boy” - he was delighted to have landed the twice-capped young Norway ace,

“He’s a joy to watch,” said Solskjaer, who declined to comment on speculation linking him with loan moves for Zaha as well as fellow out-of-favour United man Fabio.

“He did really well in the Under-18s at United, fantastic for me when I brought him to Molde and outstanding on his debut for Norway against Denmark.”

Daehli joined United in the same week as current Red Devils star Adnan Januzaj but failed to make a similar impact at Old Trafford.

But Solskjaer said: “It’s tough for a young kid to break through at one of the best clubs in the world.

“There are top, top talents there and the comparison is always going to be there but that’s not fair on the boy as Adnan’s almost established himself now in the first-team set-up at United.”

Daehli - who Solskjaer revealed had been scouted by Cardiff during the Mackay era - said: “I left United to play for this manager and now I am delighted to sign for him again and play for him.”aims to draw on his Molde experience – and the transfer market – to steer Cardiff City out of the bottom three.

City fell into the Premier League relegation zone for the first time this season after the setback against the Hammers, and they now face tricky trips to Manchester City and Manchester United before January is out.

But Solskjaer, so used to winning trophies in over a decade as a United player, is no stranger to being at the wrong end of the table after turning around Molde’s fortunes in the last Norwegian season.

“We had one win in the first 11 games and were in the bottom three,” he said. “But we stuck at it and came through. So I’m not going to panic, of course not.

“The foundation here is that not too much has to be changed, but I’ve got a philosophy of players expressing themselves and going for it.”

Molde eventually escaped the bottom three to finish sixth under Solskjaer’s command in 2013 and, while such a rise is not possible at Cardiff this season, the Norwegian insists half the division is in relegation peril.

“You can see how tight it is – five points up to 10th, one point down to the bottom,” he said. “But it’s not the league table now that decides.

“It’s my job to keep confidence up and keep us performing like we did in the second half.

“That’s the mental side of the game and I’m sure I will be OK with that.”

:laughing6: what a stupid comment. He's only just got here and been left with a lot of dross MM wasted money on. Let him sign some of his own players who can actually pass a ball forward and have a hint of creativity and I'm sure we will be staying up. In fact I'm very confident OGS will keep us up. :ayatollah:

OGS will bring in some quality players in this window. We should never have sacked MM he would have kept us up :ayatollah:

Obviously I meant too late this season ie our previous managers' signings were poor not OGS. Wake up there at the back

Very contradictory statement? Without better quality we would be relegated and going on some of malkies signings wouldn't trust him to get that quality in this window! Trust ole from what I have seen so far. :old:

Ah but Mackay would argue that when he was sacked, City were not in the bottom 3.

True but City were still struggling due to the inadequacies of his pre season signings and defensive tactics when he left.

His signings were lamentable. I fear OGS may be to reiterate "too little too late."

Hope I am proven wrong. :ayatollah:
