Fans attitude towards Cornelius

Sun Jan 12, 2014 6:52 pm

I was sitting during half time and there was a group of people who were clapping (sarcastically) at Cornelius every time he had miss-passed or did something wrong (control etc). He had looked up at the group and showed an element of confusion and (obviously) unhappiness. the couch with glasses also looked at them (he was passing to him and Eikrem)

If people actually gave him a chance and stopped damaging his confidence, he might actually play better. Im not saying that is the sole reason but the man needs time. He will come good. We must support him.

I think he is garbage but would never heckle a player, I clapped him at the end and when he was warming up in the corner during the game

i dont think he is ever going to be the 8 mil player we bought, but he isnt trying to b bad...........ive noticed some piss takers myself, they happened to be incredibly vocal over dont sack Mackay. ..2 plus 2 equals 5 at the CCS

What do they expect when they treat him like rubbish? It's going to make him worse if he keeps getting this treatment. I think he needs the 1st goal to get confidence and some more fans backing. Hopefully he will start vs Bolton in the FA Cup or I want him to start before that, but we do now have some tough games coming up.

If my agent had managed to convince a Premier League club to give me a £45,000 per week contract over 5 years (£11.7m) I'd dress up as Vincent Tan and let the fans beat the crap out of me after every game and I'd still go home with a massive smile on my face. I know there are plenty who'd love that. I think he's got it easy personally.

The sarcastic jeers are not helping when he is on the pitch.

A lot of our fans at home are an embarrassment but they pay their money I suppose. People like that will run a mile if we go down.

10 minutes isn't enough to prove Barnett.

He's had longer than 10 minutes and you know it. He's also not played more because he's shite, nothing to do with injury. Malky liked to run the injury line for a lot of things.

Still shite. He could have been playing since the inception of the club and he'd still be crap. I wouldnt have him in a power league side let alone at Cardiff City FC. He makes Eddie Johnson look like Luis Suarez.

Although I would never slag a player off at a game, I will never forgive Cornelius for his lack of effort at home to Sunderland which in my opinion, cost us their equaliser and 2 points. Half heartedly jogging from side to side for 10-15 minutes to allow their defenders to walk the ball into our half to start attack after attack after attack is not the way to get the fans on your side I'm afraid. With such an attitude, it's hard to imagine him busting a gut in training to knuckle down and improve on his game either. I don't think he will improve at all with us and we have dropped a huge bollock signing him.

Re: Fans attitude towards Cornelius

The only player some of our so called 'supporters' haven't made a culprit of is Steven Caulker (so far). It's one thing criticising players. But ripping into a player who is yet to play a full competitive game for the club says so much more about the critic than the player.

Also, whoever it was at the club who gave the press the quote - "we wanted a Rolls Royce, but we got a Toyota" needs to be forced out of all matters at the club. Even if Cornelius does, in the future, prove to not good be value for money, publicly criticising the player and asset of CCFC is downright negligible.

Part of the problem is that some fans can't think for themselves, so when a particularly negative but vocal individual (and there are a few) decides to make mischief, the sheep simply flock together and sing to the same tune regardless of the truth and regardless of what that might do to the confidence of the boy...

Personally, I though there were one or two 'encouraging' signs in Cornelius' cameo appearance on Saturday and (missed goal attempt apart) and he looks to be making progress with the coaching team...indeed, the other players reckon he will come VERY good when completely fit ;)

Only time will tell, but actively 'knocking' him with little or no justification will hardly help the boy

A bit harsh to criticise him when two centre halves are passing it between them and he's up front on his own with the rest of the team sat so deep. The mistake was taking off Campbell who has more pace to close down or even to bring Maynard on instead of cornelius, again having more pace.
As for the 2 points dropped, how can you look past KTC who passed the ball straight to them when a clearance would have ended the game.

I agree, Cornelius ran his guts out for the 15 or so minutes he was on the pitch, mainly chasing shadows, but he won several balls in the air, unfortunately as we'd sat so deep by the time he came on, every ball he won went to an opponent!

Had he got the service which Campbell received during his time on the pitch, it would be a lot easier to judge him!

The difference was in that game, KTC gave his all and it was a mishit clearance because he ran himself into the ground attacking and defending up the right flank. I didn't see Cornelius sprint once when he came on. Even if the 2 centre backs are passing back and fore, sprint towards one of them to close him down to pressure him into rushing a pass/clearance ffs! Campbell did it all game before being subbed and Maynard did it at Arsenal when he came on, so why couldn't Cornelius at least TRY to put the same effort in? It's not his ability I'm questioning, it's his effort, I would seriously rather we still had Rudy who would at least battle and unsettle defenders. Cornelius despite his size, is so much easier to defend against than Rudy.
