I went to this event, had a ball, loved the atmosphere generated by our supervisor with the loudspeaker. The hand prepared food on offer felt loved and prepared by hands that only Derrick Brockway could match for tenderness, and yes I did cop a feel as he handed me the food. at first I thought my finger was touching a succulent slice of salmon flesh, but no, on closer inspection it was this guys immaculately cared for hands, quite bizarre that I notice and apreciate these things, in comparison my hands are really coarse and bumpy, I felt embarrassed on shaking hands for attending, I wondered if he noticed my coarse hands? was he asking who invited me? did my clumsy working class hands ruin yet another networking event? These doubts in my psychology grew and grew, all I could think about was hands, so I decided to confront the organiser and 'have it out' But bottled it when I saw the size of his hands, what these paticular hands lacked in care, more than compensated for in size. I ended up wearing a pair of gloves washed up on the beach and gradually my mood lifted.
Anyway, the event was good, the smoked salmon billinis were naturally par excellence and quite a daring move given the recession we're in, I thought the rasta dude would stage a sit-in protesting against 'capitalist vermin' eating salmon while seagulls starved, but even he caught this events happy vibe, looking happier than a pig in shit when the wife turned up with his bucket and spade. All in all a great day had by all, I didn't manage to pick any litter and the facilities weren't great, but i fed my wife and kids for f**k all, shook hands with jesus, & found that I really love hand prepared food, lovingly prepared with lovely hands. I reckon the food tastes better and will endeavour to pamper my own hands by wearing gloves everywhere from October right through to March. I heard a few moaners, but really what can you expect for the budget. excellent day out for the fmily. 4 stars. ****
