Who cares? Paul Scholes couldn't tackle to save his life, yet he was a brilliant player. Obviously, Whitts isn't and will never be at the same level, but the principle stands.

Also sad to see that he is the new scapegoat. It was Cowie, now it's Whitts.

He is being played in the wrong position, everyone knows it doesn't suit him.

Scholesy could change the game with one pass, his both feet we're quality. All Whitts does is go backwards, he brings nothing to the table. It's like playing with a man down. I've not seen him play one quality ball in god knows how long. Not good enough for the premiership.

He was dropped toward the end of last season and although we were not great - we were certainly better without him in the side.

I think it was a combination of dropped and rested to be honest. He'd been playing for 3 seasons and three quarters of one non-stop, so he needed to be left out for a bit. I agree that his form had tailed off, but fatigue was certainly a key reason for his exclusion.
