Malky on MOTD tomorrow

Fri Jan 10, 2014 7:55 pm

Is the word :?:
Either rub salt into the wounds and open a can of worms on Tan if we lose or prize himself up for the West Ham job?

I want to hear him speak freely for once because I really do feel sorry for him.

Good luck to him!

Wonder if they'll ask him about Cornelius, Velikonja, Odemwingie, Brayford, Moore, Lewis, Lappin or Harris?

Maybe they could ask him about his transfer activity and talk about how he must of enjoyed being the 10th largest spending manager in the UK over the past 2 years?

Or maybe ask him about his "issues" with a Cardiff City legend like Bellamy, McPhail or McNaughton?

Then again, maybe he can talk about our second lowest goals scored in the league and one of the worst defensive records?

Will be an interesting watch...... :happy1:

Come on Ole - get the talent at our disposal to play like they WANT to play!!! Bluebirds!!! :ayatollah:

I'd be surprised if Malky would say anything to the public, he probably had something written in his contract that stated he couldn't bad mouth the club, most managers do nowadays which is why you don't often hear managers slag off their former clubs.

He is kind of right. I will always appreciate Malky as everyone else but there are more and more things being released where it shows he played a part and he was the bad guy as well as Tan.

The bloke deserves a lot of credit for getting us promoted, he also deserves every penny of a severance package BUT, he also should be held to question over a number of dubious actions.

I think Ole is a breath of fresh air and we can progress further with him than Malky, but Malky did the job he was initially employed to do and you can't take that away from him.....

However, so did Aidy Boothroyd, Phil Brown, Owen Coyle, Brian McDermott, Nigel Adkins and Neil Warnock........

Best of luck to him in future but, let's focus on the positivity that Ole has brought in only the last 10 days - immense!!!! Bluebirds!!!

I'd be gobsmacked if he speaks freely.

I'd imagine his severance deal will have a legally binding clause that means he'd be a monumental idiot to speak freely about the goings on at the club prior to his sacking.

Why is he a 'plastic', because he tells the truth?

The 'plastic' is the guy who hopes he shits all over us. Great supporter!!!!!

Firstly, the players he mentions. Cornelius hasn't even started a league match yet; he didn't even want to buy Velikonja; Odemwingie is fair game, and the same goes for Brayford; Moore is a young goalkeeper for the future; Lewis was bought as back-up to Marshall and was a free transfer; Lappin was a similar thing and was bought as back-up, also as a free transfer; and Harris is also young and may yet prosper in the future.

Secondly, he points out that Mackay was the 10th highest-spending manager in the whole of the country over the last two years. Is it his fault that he was trusted with money? No, I wouldn't say so. He'd done brilliantly in his first season at the club and thoroughly deserved to be backed with extensive finance in the summer of 2012 in order to make a proper fist of things at the top of the Championship; and he clearly merited being trusted with further funds during last summer. After all, he'd done what no other manager of the club had done in the preceding 53 years.

Thirdly, he refers to alleged issues with players, namely three. I readily admit that what has been going on with Bellamy during the past two months is strange and has not been properly addressed. However, it must be said that Bellamy and Mackay had enjoyed a previously strong relationship, with both often praising each other, especially last season. Indeed, Bellamy said in October:

"As a manager Malky is the best young British manager out there and what he's done for this club in a short space of time is nothing short of remarkable," Bellamy said. "We've got a group of players and fans who are united - and he's done all that.

"He's responsible for the connection between the fans and the players. We are such a tight-knit group now, the discipline he has brought into this club is remarkable."

He added: "I'm just a player, I can only talk from a player's point of view and I can't try and dictate to anyone above me but the simple fact is I am very fortunate as a player to be working with the guy.

"He's certainly brought everyone together at Cardiff and we needed that. That's not being disrespectful to the managers who were here before him but he's taken it on to another level. He's united the city and being from Cardiff that makes me feel very proud."

Mackay said this about Bellamy last season after the Birmingham home game:

“He was like a 20-year-old out there, the way he closes down opposing players is exceptional,” said Mackay.

“People talk about ability and technique, which he has, but everything starts with hard work. Craig produces that in every match and every training session. That attitude can run through a team and can bring the best out in others, particularly the younger guys.

“Look at the amount of panic he causes in dangerous areas.”

And he said this after the away game at Blackburn:

“Craig has had a massive influence at this club this season. He’s been excellent on and off the pitch and has a lot of respect for the people here.

“He is passionate for Cardiff, and he is passionate for his country. That’s well known."

As for McPhail, it's clear that he'd fallen way down the pecking order at the club, and due in part to the horrendous illnesses he's had to deal with. Other players were more worthy of selection, and it was the right decision that he left during the summer.

McNaughton is probably the only one of the three alluded to that is worthy of being labelled a 'club legend', and even that is debatable. As far as one can see, there appears to have been no issues between him and Mackay. He played 26 times in the league last season, and like McPhail, had dropped down the pecking order a bit, with Connolly playing eight times more than him in the league last season. Signing Brayford obviously hasn't really worked out, but that effectively made McNaughton third-choice. Sending him out on loan to a Championship club so that he could play regularly was sensible.

As for his point about lack of goals and the defensive side of things, well - the club hasn't been in the relegation zone all season, I don't think.

No we haven't been in the relegation zone all season but we've been very near and look where we are now, 2 pts above some awful teams, at one point we were 8 pts above Sunderland  you can't hide the fact we couldn't score for shit and couldn't defend for shit despite being 'a hard team to break down'
