Hardest Worker/Laziest Player @ CCFC

Fri Jan 10, 2014 4:03 pm

Seen a lot of players who always give 100%, Bellamy recently, but Andy Legg sticks out as probably the hardest grafter I've seen, Peter King always gave it a go as well. Although I liked him, and he was very gifted, Nathan Blake didn't exactly run himself into the ground when he played for us, usually did something quite eyecatching though, like his goal against Man City.

I would say Willie Boland was our hardest working player during my time watching City. He would run a marathon to win the ball, then instantly give it away, then run a marathon to try to win it back again!

Laziest player I would have to say probably Jason Fowler, who had so much ability, but only produced glimpses of magic when he felt like.

talking of lazy players, did i miss something on here or has bothroyd going to thailand slipped totally under the radar? just the sort of move he would make.i would of liked to see him step down the league and prove himself allover again and get back in the england squad. like that was ever going to happen though

You're right enough, only time he came off the pitch soaking wet was in the rain.

Campbell(hardest working)
Odemwingy (laziest)

Velikonja is also lazy at development games but a I feel he thinks he is wasting his career here with no way out

Of the current team..

Hardest working - Cowie or Mutch
Laziest - Whitts.

Bothroyd was one of the laziest.

Whitts is not lazy , he doesn't do as much running as others because he is the playmaker .the midfield general who plays next to him ( Gunnar , mutch , cowie ) and gary medel behind him are the ones charged with chasing everything down and hounding the opposition . Whitts is there mainly to make space for himself so he is available when the ball is won to start a counter attack with his range of passing .

Whitts has been playing on the wing for us and consistently leaving our left back exposed really hope he gets dropped hopefully the Wolf will be a better version of Whitts.

That's because he's not a winger and either doesn't know the role or is not capable of playing it when out there . All of his best performances come when he is central and is allowed to play to his strengths , going down the wing taking people on is not one of them and he shouldn't be there . Tbh I liked malky but that was one of his mistakes not playing people in there correct positions

Hardest working, well Taylor has to be up there, always coming off the pitch with a red face and covered in sweat, but I think McNaughton edges it, never stops running.

Laziest, in the past was Bothroyd but it's got to be Whittingham, he wouldn't chase the ball if it was an open goal with the keeper next to him

Agree, a bit unfair to be too critical of Whitts as he has been playing out of position for much of the season. Being a laid back sort of player may make it appear that he is lazy, but I have seen far worse.

Gareth Ainsworth always worked his bollocks off. Bolland also didn't stop.

Langley was a lazy b*stard as was Bothroyd.

You say Malky made a mistake not playing Whittingham in his correct position, yet Malky played Whittingham mostly in the centre and you have just said you believe Whittingham's best position is in the centre as this is where he can play to his strengths?

he killed him last year playing him in front of our defence a lot.........i think that maybe because our back 4 and marshall arnt exactly the best at distribution..........but what we gained one end,we missed out on at the other, and the player looked totally ruined by february.........wasnt the best mam management ive ever seen

As the song said - jeff eckhardt (spelling) was here there and every fooking where. Got to be close for hard working.
Laziest has to be jay bothroyd. I also thought simon howarth was lazy didnt use to run much and when he had the ball he just hit it every time ! Blakey also very lazy
