Solskjaer is in a bulletproof position as our manager

Thu Jan 09, 2014 8:43 am

If he does well:

1) He'll get most of the praise if he does well
2) He can move on to another job after proving himself in the PL
3) He's proved he can work under what the media and many outside fans believe is an interfering and controlling owner

If he does badly:

1) Tan will be blamed based on previous events and media reports (claims of interfering, controlling, etc. will emerge)
2) Due to this he'll still be given a chance elsewhere at what is regarded a stable club to outsiders
3) He's proved he'll struggle under what the media and many outsiders believe is an interfering and controlling owner but many will still have faith in him to do the job at a club where the owner does not interfere

Ole is in a win-win situation here at Cardiff City which is why I believe he took the job whereas in the past he has turned down offers from the Premier League. Its less of a gamble because theres a way out if it goes wrong where he can still save some face in the managerial world.

This is the ideal job for a new manager because of the perceptions of Tan in the media and to many other fans. Solskjaer failing here won't look bad on Solskjaer, it will look bad on Tan as blame will get attributed to him.

Good points, mate,

but there's more to the picture... OGS went back to Norway in the first place to gain managing experience, and after 3 seasons with tremendous success he had half a year left of his contract. As other's has pointed out, either here or over at ccmb it's not normal for Norwegian managers to end their contract in the summer because the season is different. It runs from march to november.

So should he have another half season in Norway and pick a PL team in half a year, or should he take this massive allthough exciting challenge.

Let's be frank, Cardiff is in a pretty cool situation if you're a young up and coming manager with proven abilities, sky high potential and huge balls. I have no doubt, OGS will avoid relegation while playing attractive attacking football. And then - if Moyes isn't sacked and replaced soon, ManU will get him come summer.

I wouldn't say bulletproof.
He's definitely in a honeymoon period but it's all about results. If he doesn't win games and we get relegated then he's failed,he's taken over a decent squad with cash to spend, the buck stops with ole.

hmmmmmmmmmmm

it was said only a couple of weeks ago ,many times in fact

someone is going to have a very good manager...........and it wont be Cardiff......we will see.

owners and fans do not go around with eyes and ears shut..........if OGS does a crap job,makes huge mistakes { and god i hope he doesnt }...people will see past Tan being insane {if of course he is }
