I see they are sticking a Lidl behind the Sandmartin Pub on the ground set aside for a hotel.
A cheap hotel like a Travelodge or Premier Inn would have been better than ANOTHER supermarket.

More parking spaces they need, especially if we're going to get 30,000 turning up

Couldn't find a hotel willing to build there.

What a load of piddle.
I think this is a missed opportunity by club and council

I'm just glad something's actually being built there, makes the whole area look crap that there's nothing built

anything other than a supermarket tbh, thats just going to create more traffic surely? its hard enough trying to park as it is. i agree a hotel would have been nice and good idea suprised no one took it up.

Travelodge were due to build a 67 bedroom hotel and as I saw the plans (nearly 2yrs ago) looked to be a lovely looking building, however it went to final planning then they pulled out due to poor finances (and are still in trouble), lidl then stepped in but the parking will be even worse now.. I also understand that they will open up a new access road so u won't have to go into the stadium approach, hassled by the fake parking inspectors and will be able to drive straight in.. Marstons who own sandmartin (my previous employers) refused to build their own hotel there and therefore they will suffer now as ppl will park @ sandmartin and go shopping.. Stupid decision by the club if u ask me as they could've made better use of the land
