Newly-appointed Bologna coach Davide Ballardini has claimed he turned down the opportunity to manage Cardiff City before accepting the position at the Dall’Ara.
The former Genoa coach has replaced Stefano Pioli at the helm of the Rossoblu with the club struggling badly at the moment, suffering a disappointing loss away to Catania on Monday afternoon.
TMW are reporting that Ballardini turned down the chance to coach Sassuolo and the Welsh outfit after they dispensed with the services of Malky Mackay.
Despite offering the Ravenna man a two year deal, Ballardini rejected their advances and the job instead went to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Ballardini faces a difficult task with the Felsinei who currently sit just one point above the relegation zone.
