have we missed a trick here (regarding the jacks)

Wed Jan 08, 2014 1:29 pm

THEY are already Wales's number one club and the Swans are hoping sales of their shirts will take off in a big way thanks to a new spot at Cardiff Airport.

Later this month the airport in the Vale of Glamorgan will be officially launching its new sports shop which aims to celebrate the very best of Welsh sporting success.

And with the Swans going through what is arguably the most successful period in their history, the club's merchandise is taking pride of place in the store.

A spokesman for the club said: "We were given the opportunity to introduce some Swansea City merchandise into Cardiff Airport, which is currently undergoing a revitalisation.

"We felt it was a great opportunity not only from a commercial aspect but from a marketing point of view as well.

"For those using Cardiff Airport, the Swansea City brand will be there for everybody to see, especially travelling through foreign countries."

Though the store won't officially open till next month, the shirts went on sale in the store last month, and they have already made an impression on club bosses.

Vice chairman Leigh Dineen tweeted a picture of the display and wrote: "A little bit of Swansea at Cardiff Airport."

Spencer Birns, director at Cardiff Airport said: "We're proud of Wales's sporting success and we saw an opportunity to open a new shop which celebrated teams from the world of rugby, football, cricket and ice hockey."

He added: "We opened the shop at the start of the year and will launch it officially later this month."

The airport, which was sold to the Welsh Government in March last year for £62 million, was expected to deal with more than 20,000 passengers over the Christmas period.

This comes as no suprise. It's an opportunity to test the market before the planned superstore in Cardiff later this year. The location hasn't been revealed yet, but I'm told it's currently being used as a pub just under a railway bridge somewhere?

A Swansea shop in Cardiff would get destroyed. Good luck with that. Every Friday night when all the valleys boys go into town they'll be smashing it to pieces after a few WKD's.

 Dream on .

Your home games v Stoke and Hull weren't sold out. But on your fantasy island that was carefully ignored.

Also, ask yourself this...
Which club is offering 'kids for a quid' for the West ham game and which one has already sold out its home end for the same fixture is just about to sell out the last couple of hundred of the away section which is now available to home fans ? In a ground which holds 7000+ more.

You weren't even the biggest club when we were a division below you.

You have only had 1 year in the last 20 when your gates were bigger than us.

Who gives a sh1t about twitter followers (out of date stat anyway, based on when we were in the Championship) or 'better run' -shirt sales is bollox as most of our fans are boycotting them - when we were both in the Champ we sold far far more than you did, surely you aren't using that to gauge the size of club -if you are you are deluding yourself.

I'd happily give you all that for beating your asses like we have the last time we met at ours and the last time we met at yours.

As for more successful, you've had a few good seasons, but we've finished above you more times in the last 20 years and also in our history - more than twice as many times

History didn't start in 2010.

Who's running the shop Huw Jenkins :laughing6: :laughing6:

The overheads delivering the shirts alone will be more than they make on them, how much profit can you make from a shop selling ten shirts a year :laughing5:
