Here's a question. Why did he leave so suddenly after being the first of the Malaysians and the one who took an interest and started the ball rolling. I seem to remember him saying - Tan always gets what he wants as he is very powerful. But why did TG leave when he loved it here and we have heard absolutely nothing of him since? :ayatollah:

TG was a gentleman and an honourable man who would have respected our culture and identity so the rebrand would not have set well with him.
I believe that's the reason he left the club

TG was just the middle man to set up the VT deal in the beginning.

I do believe it....he wasn't a football man.....there's more in this life than football.
He's offered a position in government and jumps at the chance to serve......of course that's to simple for some of the fickle. :laughing6:

not true
when tg was first involved with the club vt had nothing to do with it. in fact i believe tan only got involved because of the play off final and we were nothing more than a gamble by him.
look at the rewards he would have gained off a small investment if we had beat blackpool.
and as annis has pointed out tg always said we would remain blue

Re: TG

Wed Jan 08, 2014 9:23 am

I'm not totally convinced by the argument that he left because of the re-brand. I don't think he cared that much about the club. I don't think he liked it and could foresee it would cause problems but I think his job was to bring in someone like VT and once that was done he was gone. Simple as.

He might well have got a nice position in the Malaysian government since but I don't think he left because of that either. He probably got offered it after he left. Who knows?!

So why didn't he go when we didn't beat blackpool if that's the case?

TG loved it here in cardiff and his son was in college here as well.

Re: TG

I doubt he would make up the fact that he's getting into politics.

Re: TG

Wed Jan 08, 2014 11:28 am

TG Got involved with us as his son was offered a trial after sending numerous letters to other clubs, We bothered to reply.
He was never the money man, VT was always part of it but in the background at the beginning.
He is now in political circles.

Re: TG

Not trying to run TG down, here's a bit of background.

TG Chan is lawyer who was educated in Warwick. He worked in UK for many years before coming back to Malaysia to help out his father's company Radio & General Trading Sdn Bhd which got into financial trouble in the early 1993.
His break came in when he successfully bid for a project in Kuala Lumpur City Center. That project too got into a legal tussle with his JV partner which is ESPL (a subsidiary of DBSLand, Singapore) Subsequently, he worked his way to be with VT and was a director of Berjaya Assets. He also left Berjaya Assets last year.
