Hannover ready to cash in on £2.5m Cardiff City target!

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been told he can make it a quick-fire quartet of Cardiff City signings after Hannover opened the door for a swoop for Senegal striker Mame Diouf.

And it could make it four former Molde men to sign up for Solskjaer’s new-look Bluebirds as the new Cardiff boss aims to make short work of his transfer business less than a week after taking over from Malky Mackay.

Solsjkaer has already moved to tie-up deals for Mats Moller Daehli and Heerenveen’s Magnus Wolff Eikrem worth around a combined £5m, both players having featured under the Norwegian at Molde and whose moves are expected to be formally confirmed within days.

And current Molde keeper Orjan Nyland is also on Solskjaer’s hit-list with a deal thought likely to be in the offing as the former Manchester United striker looks to shape his squad for the second-half of the Premier League season and beyond.

Now a move for ex-United rookie Diouf has been cleared should Solskjaer follow-up his initial interest in the 26-year-old with Bundesliga club Hannover confirming they would be prepared to cash in on the striker – and the player indicating he wants to leave.

Diouf – who starred for United’s reserves under Solskjaer having started out at Molde – is out of contract in the summer with his agent telling Hannover officials he will not re-sign.

And now president Martin Kind admitted they would be open to offers for the five-goal frontman, with £2.5m enough to seal a deal.

It would depend on Hannover being able to replace the frontman in the window but president Martin Kind told local media outlets: “Diouf signals are such that he wants to leave the club. We are open to (him leaving). Diouf could go away if we have previously solved our problems and we agree with the new club.”

Diouf sparked speculation he was ready to quit Germany when he failed to report for training earlier this week, but is now back with teammates having claimed he was absent with concerns of a family illness.

Solskjaer’s link to Diouf would likely see off interest from Turkish outfit Trabzonspor while it remains to be seen whether Stoke - who reportedly placed a bid for the striker last summer - or West Ham act on the latest developments having been linked with the one-time Blackburn loan man.

Not even a big gamble IMO. Bundesliga players often succeed in the PL as the pace and physicality is the same. Would be a very astute piece of business from OGS.
