Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan criticised by F1 driver Mark Webber for Malky Mackay sacking

It seemed as though everybody had vented their opinion on the sacking of former Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay but today, Australian sporting mega star Mark Webber threw his two-penneth worth in via his popular blog

Australian Formula One driver Mark Webber shares his opinion on Cardiff City

Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan has been slammed for sacking Malky Mackay by Formula One driver Mark Webber, who insists continuity is the key to success in sport.

Writing in his Sports Lobster blog outspoken Australian star Webber, who admits being a huge fan of Manchester United and the Premier League, said: "The recent events at Cardiff have put a downer on the season.

"Malky Mackay was doing a fine job at the club but clearly he was not doing well enough for the owner Vincent Tan.

"This episode to me highlighted the fact that continuity in football management has disappeared completely which is not only damaging for the fans but for the sport as a whole."

Speaking in the wake of Mackay's sacking and subsequent replacement with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the 37-year-old Porsche driver who has enjoyed 11 years at the top of his sport, said: "Many of these foreign owners have no background in football or even sport but think they know best and start interfering in the manager’s business and for me, situations like the one at Cardiff are occurring far too often."

But in Solskjaer's first game in charge of the Bluebirds, they shocked the football word by winning 2-1 in the FA Cup at Newcastle United.

The former Red Bull superstar observed: "One comical thing I’ve always noticed is the moment the manger gets sacked the players are awesome again.

"It really shows you how sensitive sportsmen are to change.

"While things are going wrong there’s a feeling of ‘of course it’s not our fault, it’s the manager’, but then as soon as the new man comes in the level picks up a notch so we know the players are capable.

"Yes things get stale but some managers haven’t even been given a chance of late.

"The Cardiff fans have a right to be angry because the owner looks like he has very little idea of what’s going on down there.

"The fans have continued to back the team, which is great to see, but the actions of the owner have definitely been damaging."

For the perfect recipe for running a sports organisation, Webber points to his former employers at Red Bull.

He said: "In my opinion Red Bull have proved that continuity is king.

"The policy at Red Bull is to have very little turnover of staff and drivers.

"Constant reshuffling in F1 is probably even more damaging than football as it’s so inefficient and expensive.

"On paper, apart from Adrian Newey, Red Bull didn’t start with many big names.

"Their philosophy was not to poach people from rival teams but to build up from the bottom.

"Now many of the Red Bull guys are sought after by everyone else.

"Much of the success is down to unsung heroes who most people will never even hear about.

"Some of the emerging owners in football could benefit from a steady long term vision much like that of Red Bull.

Full of rubbish Webber is.

If continuity is the key then lets ask Southampton how it panned out for them. Lets ask Stoke why they didn't keep Pulis. Also, Liverpool were doing terrifically under Dalglish, most certainly heading in the right direction. I can find many more examples to back up where change is needed if need be.

I can't take Webber serious when he works in a sport where racers change car manufacturers all the time. Theres hardly any loyalty in F1. The racers go where the money is and the better cars are so they can win things. Change occurs to compete. Its no different in football.
