Ole, snap up Finnbogason

Mon Jan 06, 2014 7:02 pm

West Ham have apparently bid £5.3m for Diouf and for me, thats too much for a gamble who is hit and miss and often goes missing not only in games but from training according to reports.

Finnbogason was lined up for a move to Celtic but he was valued at too much, 10 million euros in fact, which is within our budget quite easily. He has today announced that he is to stay at Heerenveen until the summer but I think that with the offer of Premier League football and a decent wage packet he would come here.

I really don't think he's a gamble as much because his record is impeccable in the Eredivisie. 12 in 17 for Helsingborg's in Sweden, 24 in 33 in his first season with Heerenveen and 17 in 15 in the current season with them. He's also only 24 years of age.

Ole will no doubt have heard of Finnbogason given that he played in Sweden, another Scandinavian country.

Come on Ole, splash the cash on a proven goalscorer with a great record who compliments the style you want to bring to the club!

Bring in Finnbogason! :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Bony was 14 mil and finboggasson is better than old Pony, so anything under 8 mil would be a bargain for this guy. Can't see hereeveen selling 2 of their top stars to us tho

£5.3m is too much for Diouf in my opinion. He's 2 years older for a start so the likelihood of a return gets less every year and he's nowhere near as prolific. If you want to stay in this division you need a quality goal getter and Finnbogason is that. He is not fancy but he finds the net like Bony down west. Bony could well be the difference between them going up and down and we need a striker who is as capable to be our difference.

Also, if you think Finnbogason wouldn't cut it in the Premier League then you've clearly not seen him play. He's a lot better than Campbell, he's a lot better than Diouf and he's slightly better than Bony in my opinion but that depends on what type of striker you prefer. His mental game is brilliant. He is your typical fox in the box striker but can score great goals as well. He just makes sure the ball ends up in the net.

£10m on Finnbogason is money better spent than £5.3m spent on Diouf.

If we don't get in a clinical finisher we're going back down. The stats don't lie, we're struggling to score goals. The vast amount of this transfer budget should be going on a proven goal getter to quell this problem.
