Anybody else slightly worried

Mon Jan 06, 2014 6:47 pm

Just a thought I haven't heard mentioned a lot .

Our team spirit is fantastic , everybody seems to get on and there seems a very harmonious vibe around our squad at the moment with everybody fighting together as one .
Bringing in so many players from the same country can cause a lot of unrest in a dressing room , a kind of its them and us division situation .

Newcastle had major problems after signing all the French players , they had a terrible finish to last season after multiple French signings Although that has sort of been sorted this season .

Anybody think this may be a problem if we add 4/5/6 Norwegians ?

How will players like Kimbo , whitts and Noone react if they lose there places after all the hard work they have out in over the last few seasons ?
Will the team spirit of fighting for everything disappear ?
Will the Norwegians make such a difference that it won't matter ?

Good post . In my view I dont think the Norwegian players will form a clique as I am sure English will be their first language over here and I would be surprised if they didnt bond. They are all BLUEBIRDS after all.

All the Norwegians won't start. Most are young and to build for the future. The thing is, Ole is buying players for the future to slowly phase in for £2-3m so they''re not massive gambles. Eikrem is the only player I suspect will go straight into the team with Dæhli being slowly phased in when he can be on the left hand side. He may adapt quicker than expected and earn a starting position however.

Ole isn't an idiot. He's just snapping up youth players United let get away and he believes will come good in the future. Only expect one or two to start for us. Like others have said too, our squad is lacking serious depth in some areas. The addition of young, hungry players driven to succeed under a manager they respect should only be welcomed.

had Malky still been here, and him and Tan still big mates.........he would have signed at least 3............he signed lots of players throughout this reign as manager..........dont see much difference...and going back more.....4 dave jones players started last saturday, point being, more often than not, players just get on with it

Not a problem with the quality of the signings , like has been said he's the manager his judgement is all that matters .
The question was is it a good thing to have so many new players all from one country , like I stated newcastle had big problems last year with original players ( Taylor for one if I remember rightly ) moaning about cliques in the dressing room due to nationality and language barriers . (I know most Norwegians speak decent English )

Not a moan it's just a genuine question , there has to be a possibility too many could disrupt the rest of the squad .
The worst thing that can happen to a squad IMO is cliques being allowed to form within the group . Once the harmony and togetherness of a squad is disrupted its very rarely repaired .
