Jacks confirm approach for Tom Ince

Fri Jan 03, 2014 8:24 pm

Swansea City have confirmed they are attempting to lure Blackpool winger Tom Ince to the Liberty Stadium.

The talented England under 21 international has been a long-term target for Michale Laudrup, and the Dane has now made his move with the backing of chairman Huw Jenkins.

Jenkins today confirmed the Swans had contacted Blackpool in recent days as the Swans look to secure the services of one of the Championship's hottest properties.

Ince almost joined rivals Cardiff City in the summer for £8m , but turned the move down despite visiting the club's training ground and agreeing contract terms with former boss Malky Mackay.

A fee of just £4m could now be enough to land Ince, though, with the player's contract due to run out in the summer.

“Tom Ince is a talented player and he is someone we are looking at,” Jenkins said.

“We made an approach in the summer and have done again for this window, but it is up to Blackpool. He is their player.

“If and when there is a possibility for him to leave, then we would be interested," he told the Daily Mail

The Swans could face a battle with Cardiff for Ince's signature, but it remains to be seen whether Vincent Tan would sanction a move for a player who has already snubbed him once.

Jenkins also denied reports linking the Swans with a loan move for Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling.

I don't want him at Cardiff, the only reason he would come to Cardiff now would be for bigger money - greedy T**T,

I can't see it Carl. Why leave now for a nominal fee when he can be a free agent in the summer, and get much a better deal for himself with a wider option of Premier league clubs some who might want to give him a chance at a bigger club with very little outlay. Absolutely shocking state of affairs to be honest, but Blackpool should have accepted Ince snr's resignation when he offered it, as they have let a possible 7 or £8m slip through their fingers! :?

Of course he will. And the boy will get a 2 or £3m signing on fee, and £50k+ a week in wages, as he's a free agent. Why would he sign for you or us? Him and his dad have played a blinder here, but whoever is in charge of the situation at Blackpool must be thick as f**k!

I have always thought it was a huge conflict of interests regarding his father's position in this whole saga. Dad the Blackpool manager and Dad the players agent. One thing is for sure Dad certainly hasn't done Blackpool much good in this, as the club will end up losing millions of pounds on the player.

Blackpool have always been financially prudent to the extreme. I smell a rat there! :?

Gotta agree with this!.... Is Oyston still in charge there, he must be desperate to cash in now as all they'll get in the Summer is tribunal money.

Ince snr shafting his own employer here!

Not sure, but I don't think they will get tribunal money as he was developed at Liverpool? I might be wrong.
