Is Mats Møller Dæhli coming?

Fri Jan 03, 2014 3:50 pm

Since OGS was appointed a few normally reliable media sources have claimed Mats Møller Dæhli could soon be on his way to Cardiff. Not being a household name, this might not fill most people with excitement, but apparently, the kid's a bit special!

Only 18, he plays number 7 for Molde, and has represented Norway at every international level up to U-19. To date he has turned out 12 times for the Norwegian champions and is yet to score, but has got some glowing reports. He was in the same United reserve team as Januzaj, and was considered by many to be even better. Hopefully he'll stay on his feet more! He joined Molde from United on a 2-yr contract last summer for £1.5 million, and it is conceivable Molde would be willing to sell for a reasonable profit with a sell-on fee. Mats Møller Dæhli could be just what we need to light up our midfield.

Many at Old Trafford were surprised at his exit. Not to worry fellas, it seems he might be coming back soon. :laughing6:

Correct. Think it was 2 appearances late 2013.

The calmness he got when he moves the ball around is already high level and rare in Norway. He got a bit of Scholes in him. But i think Manu have some clause for having him back. Not quite sure.

But never the less, since OGS has this manchester contacts i recon there will be some agreement and that Mats will play for Cardiff to get prem experience before Manu takes him back.

In your opinion, do you think he's ready right now for the step up to PL football?

Hard to predict. Januzares (prob spelled wrong) made the step and Mats was considered a better player when they played together so why not. His certainly to good for norwegian tippeliga.

Looks good to me, I'd rather take a punt on him than Ince.

Agreed. Would prove a cheaper option too, and would come with less ego. Plus he knows Ole, and is at least a bit familiar with the PL.

Tricky question. I've really enjoyed watching him. Great ball control, and very confident on the ball. Could be more productive, but still looked to be a class above most Norwegian players. Not bad for his age. It might be a question of midfield roles - if he is defensively sound enough for what the role demands in a tougher league.

Huge talent, no doubt, but I doubt he will be a 2013/14-saviour.
