Hudson hails Ole appointment

Fri Jan 03, 2014 11:36 am

Mark Hudson has hailed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's appointment as Cardiff City manager as exciting for everyone at the club insisting the Norwegian's arrival is a fresh start for everyone.

Solskjaer was appointed as Malky Mackay's replacement on Thursday and will preside over his first game in charge of Cardiff when they visit Newcastle United in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday.

And Hudson, who has only featured twice for Cardiff this season, hopes Solskjaer's arrival will give him the opportunity force his way back into contention for a regular starting spot with the club.

"We met Ole yesterday and it's exciting times. He's up for the challenge, "said Hudson. "He wants to play positive and expansive football which I'm looking forward to being a part of. It's a new start for us all.

"It's fresh eyes looking on the team and hopefully for myself I can look to impress and get myself into the team for sure.

"He's a young manager wanting to achieve things and he's obviously got a belief in himself and the way plays football.

"Ole knows the game inside out. He thrived at a massive club at Manchester United and has been successful as a manager for a while now.

"The way he was brought up he knows a lot about the game obviously and like I said it's really exciting times."

Hudson said Solskjaer has already emphasised to the club's players that they need to enjoy playing in the Premier League.

But the 31-year-old insisted the team and the manager will be fully focused on progressing to the FA Cup fourth round when they visit St James' Park this weekend.

"Any game is incredibly important to me, no matter what competition it's in," Hudson said. It's an important game for us tomorrow. The new manager will want to make an immediate stamp on things."

I hope he does, Turner has been a liability for the last 3-4 games.

Not making excuses for Hudson pre-season but his misses had just had a baby. I think 2 days before forest green.

I know when my kids came along, I wasn't the sharpest for a few days. Sleep, feeds, cooking, washing, running around.
I'm used to the shit now though!

More not so subtle digs at Malky and the way he handled the man-management side of the game.

Don't forget pre season Huds was recovering from a long term injury from last season.
He should be starting every day of the week instead of lumper donkey turner imo.

If we are going to continue playing Turner, then it's obvious to anyone with eyes in their head that he is never going to be able to distribute the ball long and accurately. I do not know for the life of me, why he has not been forbidden to pass the ball anymore than 10 yards. Someone should be looking to take it short from him every single time. Turner is a good defender, who would look a whole lot better if helped out in that aspect

Both aren't good enough. Hudson is no better than Turner
We desperately need 2 cbs. One to start, one as cover

I remember Huds praising the appointment of Malky in a similar fashion, and look where it got him and us, also Solksjaer has said he prefers the ball to be played on floor, so maybe a chance of Huds yet :ayatollah:

Not really, Turner went and proved himself and Hudson dropped, say that to Malky.

Turner didn't prove himself during pre-season, he proved himself during the previous two seasons! And Hudson had proved himself during the previous 3 seasons.

Hudson was dire in Pre Season, if he was to be getting games he should have played better. Look unfit.

Shame Chris Samba has such an inflated wage in Russia, he'd be ace. But I think Solskjær is looking to be a little more shrewd than get such a big name. He's got lots of knowledge deep into many transfer markets, so he will probably sign someone who is relatively unknown who are going to be big smashing hits.

Samba played relatively well in the last few months of QPR days last season.
Kinda daunting as well but very expensive.
