Cardiff eye transfer of Crystal Palace's Jonathan Williams as first signing under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is poised to make Jonathan Williams his first singing as Cardiff boss.

Newly-appointed Solskjaer rates the Crystal Palace winger and is set to make a £3million bid to bring him to the Bluebirds.

Williams has struggled at Palace this season following their promotion to the top flight, failing to start a single Premier League match and making eight appearances from the bench.

The winger, 20, is ready for a fresh start elsewhere, and Solskjaer could provide the Wales international with a new challenge on the green, green grass of home.

Solskjaer is said to have been promised up to £25m to spend in this month's transfer window to help Cardiff avoid an instant return to the Championship.

A palace fan on talk sport last night was saying he isn't used enough and should be starting. I would be happy to take him looks a hood prospect. Him an noone on the wings a centre back and striker and I will be well happy

Would be excellent, I would love Jack Collison as well.

To the guy who said he's surprised that Jon isn't played as much, that must be down to Tony Pulis's own brand of football. ;)

They shouldn't be demanding what they asked for last year if he isn't starting in the Prem. 5 million at the highest.

Report: Crystal Palace to let Jonny Williams leave on loan

By Gary Peters, Reporter
Last Updated: Sunday, February 2, 2014 at 23:31 UK
Jonny Williams could be allowed to leave Crystal Palace following the arrival of Thomas Ince on transfer deadline day, according to a report.

Williams has yet to make a Premier League start this season, but is seen as one for the future by the Palace hierarchy.

However, The Mirror claims that Tony Pulis will let him leave on a loan deal so he can get regular first-team football.

A number of Championship clubs are reportedly interested in the midfielder.

Moronic decision, looked decent in the PL before he got injured

Tony Pulis likes players who are big and strong. Williams is small, nippy and skilful and therefore NOT gonna play in any Pulis/Palace team.

Sounds about right. That's why Barry Bannan is on the bench for them every game, he's not a bad player at all. Williams is quality though and if he's not wanted I'm sure we would quite happily have him!

I was kind of hoping the transfer rumours would stop after the window and we could get back to actually playing for a change! :laughing6:

Palace fan here in peace!

Came across this doing a search,

Williams hasnt really kicked on much in the last year or so, he is one of those players that doesnt seem to have a definite position, he can play just behind the striker but he doesnt score, he's played 50 games for Palace and hasnt scored a goal, he's played on the left and right wing but he's looked pretty lost out there.

He has some great qualities, his running with the ball at pace through the middle is a joy to watch and he tackles back well but to be honest we bought Barry Bannan and he looks a much better player, I dont think any palace fans would think Williams deserves to be picked instead of Bannan.

He needs to go out on loan and play 20 odd games through the center to see what he can do.

If he was available for 4 mil it would be worth a punt if we get rid of Gunnarsson.
