DEFEATED BUT NOT DOWNHEARTED

Wed Jan 01, 2014 6:15 pm

Second game running and we concede at the death again but the difference today is that it feels very different to the feeling I had when exited the CCS after the draw against Sunderland.

At the opposite end of the table to Sunderland, City fought against an Arsenal side who sit at the top of he league, it may not have been a full strength Arsenal team but there was plenty of quality in their side including the 'shit Aaron Ramsey' Jack Wilshire, City's game plan was working throughout the game, it was difficult to take a defeat so late in the game but the fact is we give Arsenal a run for their money.

What was also pleasing was to see City go forward in numbers today, when we were in injury time of the first half Mutch took the ball up to the Arsenal box and there was 5 City players supporting him.

McNaughton showed his asset to the team today with good defensive play and overlapping Noone.

Our team battled for the entire game and even kept going when we conceded the late goals.

That performance today gives me heart going into the West Ham game and even thigh we have only taken 1 point in the 2 games since Malky was sacked I can see the players are giving their all for the cause.

It looks like Ole will be presented as City manager in the next day or two and what he saw today must give him real hope that this team will fight for their lives to survive in this division.

I was hopeful we could have got something from today and it looked for a large part that we would have, I am an optimistic to the very end and I genuinely believe Cardiff City will retain their Premier League status even though we could dip into the relegation zone before the end of the month.

The Emirates is a stunning stadium and one of the best, if not the best, there is in England but their support there is atrocious.

City fans were predominately Blue today and even Tan himself maybe seeing sense.

The performance give me no heart because as normal we cchanged players and sat back on our own box for the last 15minute, so I knew we would lose, untill that point we played a higher line from the back four onwards. Suicide that's what it was imo carl. Same as the sunderland game.

People will be saying " they done us proud" come may but what do we expect playing that trick every week, let's hope the new man has something other than 0-0 in mind at best

We weren't pushed back we sat back and allowed them to come forward for the whole 2nd half. We have no outlet apart from Noone!

Arsenal put us under huge pressure in the 2nd half, we defended well until the 1st goal, if one team is pushing forward the other is sitting back Arsenal pushed and we had to soak it up

Which got worse after the subs and the old camp on our box trick which hardly ever works, people are saying oh well its arsenal what do we expect, well a loss was always on the cards if this is fans only was of thinking but f**k me try do something to score atleast even if we lose that was we got a chance untill then nothing will change, I'm keeping it real like you, unlike the fans who will keep saying " they done us proud" most weeks after a defeat, yet done hardly f**k all to win it.

so what was the excuse for being pushed back by the team who were bottom of the division last week. we are clearly not up to premiership level fitness wise and lets face it we are playing with the majority of the championship side from last year.
nearly half of the goals we have conceded have come in the last quarters of matches.
the new man needs to bring in at least 4 premiership class players for us to survive in my opinion.

Re: DEFEATED BUT NOT DOWNHEARTED

I think what we saw today was typical of the MM philosophy on how to survive in the PL and every now and again we may pick up the odd draw but that would have been the absolute best we could have expected today. Until we lost Mutch I thought there was a chance of keeping Arsenal out but losing him to injury was a killer bow as his replacement Cowie didn't even offer nuisance value in comparison.

Taking Medal off was also difficult to understand because at least he was doing his best to break up Arsenal attacks but losing him and leaving Kim on, in my opinion the game passed him by, left me feeling it was only a matter of time before Arsenal scored.

This transfer window is now vital for our new manager and hopefully he will deal quickly with not only identifying the weaknesses in our squad but bringing forward a more positive footballing philosophy.

Let's hope that by the end of January we will see the last of the "Sit back and hope" mentality that, in my opinion, has been the cornerstone of our clubs footballing ethos so far this season.

I haven't said anything about last weeks game, but looking at it we sat back last week to defend a two goal lead, why is anybody's guess, today I don't think Arsenal gave us much opportunity in the 2nd half to push forward. But I agree we need some class players in to survive

Re: DEFEATED BUT NOT DOWNHEARTED

At the moment our problem is we don't have attack minded midfield to come on as sub, so we are naturally dropping deep With the subs we are using, Hopefully we can get more attacking midfielder in Window.

I thought one of Malky's key points was getting the squad as fit as fk?
Yet again lack of pace and an outlet exposed. As soon as Much went off we was fcked. As for Cowie not for this level sorry.

The first half I was pleased with, we frustrated them a lot.

Second half it was just hoofing to them then they start another attack.

I didn't go but judging highlights on MOTD, we looked f*cking wank, had no set gameplan and looked very nervous !!!
