Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks set to becoming the new manager at Cardiff City.

Sky Sports TV pictures showed the former Manchester United striker and owner Vincent Tan arriving together at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday afternoon ahead of Cardiff's Premier League clash with Arsenal.

When asked about the appointment, Solskjaer told Sky Sports: "I have nothing to say at this point. I just want to enjoy the game first."

Norwegian television reported on Wednesday morning that Solskjaer had agreed to the role but that negotiations to conclude a deal were still ongoing.

The 40-year-old, in charge of Norwegian club Molde, has been favourite for the role in south Wales since the sacking of Malky Mackay last Friday following a series of disputes with the club's owner.

Norway's TV2 said that a plane registered to Berjaya Air - owned by Tan - and destined for London's Luton airport took off at 1050 local time on New Year's Day, adding that Solskjaer would be in place before Saturday's FA Cup tie against Newcastle United.

Mackay was sacked on December 27, seven months after winning promotion to the Premier League.

Chairman Mehmet Dalman stated last week he had one candidate in mind and refused to deny he had held discussions with Solskjaer, saying: "I might have and I might not have".

Caretaker boss David Kerslake, Mackay's assistant, has taken charge of the team on a temporary basis and will oversee the team's game at the Gunners.
