I always remember as a nipper, before the demountable in the bob bank was there we would sneak in through that shitty fence and leg it to the terrace. Great times, great stadium

A great place.
I loved being there and miss it even now.

Ninian Park was always a special place for me, but one of my greatest memories was nothing to do with football. I went to see Bob Marley there in the 70's and got under the tarpaulin covering the pitch with a girl who gave me a good talking to (you know what I mean), which was very near to the centre spot. I then returned the favour by giving her something over the turnstiles by the entrance to the Bob Bank. Funny as watching Cardiff from the Grange End was never the same after that!!

Imagine they brought a pub out now with cardiff city stadium pub and the new badge on it in red.
Do you think people would be as proud as there were to drink in the ninian pub all decked out in blue with bluebirds on the side and the true cardiff badge.
The photo of the ninian says it all for me .
Its gone now just shows were we are now good old stadium good times and bad we just all got on with supporting the city shame it cant be said today after Tan has destroyed us.
GOOD photos proud proud memories.

When was the grandstand roof extended? I can't remember the old grange end roof, not sure about the grandstand though.

Was the grange end and bob bank always concrete ?
I have memories as a very young lad (1971 ish) of being under a wooden stand. It may not have been NP though

when I was first on the grange it was wood

great to piss through

I remember the grandstand being very wooden in the 80s.
The grange end was my home though. It was defended like a fortress back then, usually felt safe.

Love the old girl, Seeing the old badge, Blue and Ninian park just makes me think how shit our club has become. The only thing better right now is the queue for the bar.
Had some great times in NP, Junior Bluebird, £2 entry and a pie.

Do you know what I always think of with ninian park. The walk to the bob bank behind the grange end! It was class! Especially on a sell out! You would see from the top right to the turnstiles a complete sea of blue!

Great photos, great stadium, great memories and no gastapo stewards. How I miss that great stadium, the new one will never ever be compared to NP. Thanks for the photos.

it was a GROUND not a stadiam.i say that with the upmost respect.same as st andrews is a ground not a stadiam.on my visit to the old lady i thought it was a great ground.full of character.ok some of these new grounds, sunderlands being the best iv been in ,are good but there is something special about places were the stands are different to each other.those old floodlights are the dogs danglers too

the bottom half was concrete, above the tunnel was wood, you could feel the wood bouncing with us.....i think the bob bank has always been concrete, certainly during my time.

the grange end had a capacity of 17,000..and the Bob i think 21,000 ..then the safety of sports grounds act was introduced which cut the GROUND capacity to just 8,000...

Miss that place so much. The Bob Bank felt so much bigger than the modern day Ninian stand. Used to love standing on there or sitting on the barriers if the crowd weren't so big. Used to stink of beer almost every time after coming out of there. Either that or bovril in the winter

Being only twenty, this was my season ticket view for 10 years, my fondest memories of the old girl!

Everytime I see Ninian Park I feel gutted, not so much because of the times I had there, but because I had photos of my kids in an empty ground in the dugouts, in the tunnel and sitting in my seat. I have lost the disc with the photos on, I think I inadvertently threw them out
My vivid memories are my dad taking me down in the 70's, missing the early goal against CZ, losing 3-2 to Weymouth and 'the' Leeds game.

So glad I got to see games here before it went, I was only young though. Having lived away from Cardiff most of my life I only got to go to a few games, but I saw a good few at Ninian before it went
