Marcelo Bielsa and Paul Ince emerge as Cardiff City candidates if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer deal fails

Cardiff City are keen to appoint a new manager as quickly as possible but two new managers have emerged as possible targets if their number one choice turns them down

Former Argentina and Chile coach Marcelo Bielsa and Blackpool boss Paul Ince could emerge as shock candidates for the Cardiff City job if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer turns down the Bluebirds.

Manchester United legend Solskjaer, now in charge of Molde, remains Cardiff’s No.1 choice to succeed Malky Mackay – but the 40-year-old might be unwilling to uproot his family from their native Norway.

Solskjaer also remains close to his former manager Sir Alex Ferguson – he even began his coaching career in charge of the United reserves – and much has been made of the Scot’s managerial mantra “that you choose a good owner, not a club”.

That commandment might prevent Solskjaer from working with City owner Vincent Tan, but the eccentricities of the Malaysian businessman – who appeared to be booing at the final whistle of the 2-2 draw with Sunderland on Saturday evening – might not deter the vastly experienced Bielsa or Ince.

Bielsa has previously coached Gary Medel while in charge of Chile and Craig Bellamy went on record to say he had “huge affection” for the Argentinean during his spell at Spanish club Athletic Bilbao from 2011-13.

While it is understood that Bielsa would be interested in taking a job in English football, Ince would see Cardiff as an opportunity to get back in the Premier League after a brief and unsuccessful spell at Blackburn.

Ironically, his son, the England Under-21 winger Thomas, turned down a move to Cardiff in August but he could make the same move from Blackpool in the January transfer window if his father landed the manager’s job.

Meanwhile, weekend reports suggested former boss Mackay is facing a six-month court battle with Tan over compensation.

When did Craig Bellamy say that?!

Ince would be a terrible decision, but on the other hand who in there right mind would work for a P***k like Tan. It might come down to who is willing to come here rather than who CCFC want!
Whoever is willing to take the job must in my eyes be a new manager which wants the prem football but has little experience so cant get into another prem club or someone without morals thats out to make a some money. Either way we could be f****d!!!!

Bielsa any day of the week. Highly unlikely though unfortunately. Ince isn't highly regarded by anybody but himself, would be a disasterous appointment.

One thing I believe about Tan is he'll go all out to get the manager he wants. Relegation for him would be an absolute disaster for his business reputation & losing face.
I think Bielsa would probably be more likely to accept the job than OGS if offered considering the circus that is Cardiff City at the moment.
I, personally, wouldn't mind either.

Biesla please. If they are looking at Southampton and how we'll Pochettino has done, then who better to employ than the guy Pochettino learnt from.

Don't know much about Biesla but if that's true then a great shout.
Could all be paper talk about these prospective managers though (excluding OGS)

In a perverse way the latest public exposure to Tan may be a godsend.

Lets be honest, there are not many tickets to the premier league party. If you are really wanted you can issues a few rules of engagement about the owner. OSG hasn't formally announced he has no interest, I am desperately hanging on to this as a sign he fancies it but needs to get the ground rules in place.

OSG or Marcelo Bielsa agents - You need to get the fans on side straight away, say you will only come if we return to blue next season. Lets be honest he can be as useless as Billy Arye and we wouldn't care !!!!!!

At least if we got Ince we could get his son.

Bielsa has been described by Guaridola as "the best manager in the world."

Bielsa please Tan.

Bielsa... Bilbao are an interesting club as they only employ players from the Basque region... Cardiff is a bit similar in having an identity different to the rest of the league... He obviously doesn't mind coaching a "lesser" team, might be his preference so he can instil tactics... Just watching some of the highlights of the past games and it's clear our coaching is not up to scratch, we do not press teams enough and sit off them far too much... The coaching needs an overhaul and this is the guy to do it :ayatollah:

Ince has moved out to the same as Bielsa on Sky Bet now - last night Ince's odds were tighter... Good sign, definitely don't want him. Whilst OGS is still favourite the odds are have moved out a bit in past days...

Biesla would be the best of them by a mile IMO. Every Manager is a gamble so you never know how things will work out?
Tan wants a high profile Manager, and he is certainly that and very experienced, but not very well known in the UK.

OGS would be ok, I would be worried if we only got Ince!!!

Anyone who has a clue about football knows Bielsa... Managed in a world cup FFS and won many plaudits at the WC despite not going too far

Don't post on here much but done a lot of research into ole and bielsa as these are my favourites so here's a heads up.....

Bielsa is fascinating, he plays a 3-3-1-3 but will probably play a 4-2-3-1 until he has the players in. He plays a very high pressing game which would suit Cambell but he prefers the forward to be big and strong so could also use cornelius. He's already met medel from managing chile which was a great time for bielsa, he's also managed Argentina

His back line usually has three CB the second line of three has two wingbacks that cut inside around a holding midfielder, although he was a defender, his tactic means that 6 people are always attacking, this is a tactic that he's maticulously developed and will be the only one he uses so he's still a risk.

Ole is obviously more traditional, since he's fairly new to management he doesn't have a 'system' but he seems very adaptable and his teams seem to excel at set pieces and aerial threats? Although he uses wingers effectively and has beaten teams 8-1 in the past so is clearly attack minded.

Overall bielsa could either flop or succeed, he lost his first 5 games with athletic but took them to a Europa league and Spanish cup final, drew with barca etc, he's also a cult hero in chile after getting them to beat Argentina etc. Gunnar is a safer bet but I don't think that he'll be able to provide us with the instant attacking football that we crave like bielsa would. So you can probably tell who I really want :D

I'm going for Massimiliano Allegri :ayatollah:

Current manager at AC Milan who is struggling at the moment - AC are in 13th place in Serie A & apparently Clarence Seedorf may be taking over as their manager... I'm sure Allegri would atleast be willing to speak to Dalman!
