Considering Malks games plan is to score from set pieces, are you surprised he has 4 assists? 2 key passes a game and 2 shots is nothing to scream home about

Re: PETER WHITTINGHAM

I'd say he's doing fine, when he plays centrally he will improve them stats further.
What would you expect from a player who cost £350k and is played out of position?

Re: PETER WHITTINGHAM

Sun Dec 29, 2013 7:01 pm

Not to be scared of tackling even a blade of grass.

to actually close down his man with a bit of urgency

to actually stay with his man so our LB doesnt get overloaded

Re: PETER WHITTINGHAM

Sun Dec 29, 2013 7:06 pm

He isn't being used correctly and has lost confidence.

For whatever reason Malky liked to play him as a defensive midfielder especially last season and he has now lost his best attributes in attack.

Lonnie Lawrence did the same with Kav.

Re: PETER WHITTINGHAM

Sun Dec 29, 2013 7:48 pm

He just needs some more confidence I reckon.

Did you see some of the positions he got himself into yesterday? If he could only have taken on a couple of shots instead of passing, then we might have all been speaking about how great he was instead of slating him.

Re: PETER WHITTINGHAM

Sun Dec 29, 2013 8:16 pm

Needs to be taken out of the team for a while I think.

Even his dead ball delivery is lacking at the moment.

Re: PETER WHITTINGHAM

Sun Dec 29, 2013 8:23 pm

If people get behind him he will excel. Such a talented footballer. Ideally he would be in the middle or we would be more solid defensively. Strengthen at left back in January and it will benefit him

Re: PETER WHITTINGHAM

Sun Dec 29, 2013 8:35 pm

We so desperately need a modern left sided attacking midfielder and go 4321. A central midfield of medel holding and a rotating 2 from Kim,Mutch and Whitts works for me.

he's to clever for most fans I agree, most want him to dive in to tackles he won't win and chase after lost causes that would make him totally out of position

Clever? Oh my God; sometimes I think its not a new Manager we need but some new fans who are not stuck in the past!

Just a couple of points as a reality check:-

1. We are in the Premier, not League 1

2. Aston Villa got rid of him years ago because hes not Premier quality

3. His best years are behind him. He had a couple of good seasons for us but that's long gone now

4. People keep whining on hes played out of position. Please understand hes not good enough anywhere

5. His inclusion is keeping better players out

6.Please lets stop going over the same old thing. The guy is mediocre Championship quality at best, were in a Premier relegation dogfight, lets move on and demand a bit more quality for ourselves, grow up and stop looking back ay the past!

Also was not used by Malky much last year but was deemed an ever present this season strange thought process by Malky

Re: PETER WHITTINGHAM

Yesterday he had a couple of good opportunities to shoot and he didn't have the confidence to do it... Not good enough I'm afraid... Yes he takes our corners and free kicks but we haven't scored either of those for a few games and I'm sure Noone could whip one in...

What if he'd shot and missed? He'd probably be a greedy b*stard then.

Get behind him and stop moaning and maybe he'll take those shots like he used to

Okay okay I was a trifle generous with my praise. I should have said shit awful Championship player, better suited to directing traffic.

Canton we're in the Premier mate. We're not playing the likes of Scunthorpe or Barnsley now

Some balls and f*cking interest considering how much he gets paid. He is well past his best so time for the taxi to arrive.

Funny how a few who have made their mind up on Whitts constantly spout the scared to tackle tag.....

Gunnar can tackle, but thats it
Cowie can steal, but that its

You need to be able to trap and pass in this league or we get found out- Whitts can do that better than nearly than all his team mate.

Funny how I haven't seen the WTF was Kimbo doing when Bentner scored threads

Our why doesn't Noone track back and help his full back more, (he can't tackle at all !!!)

Re: PETER WHITTINGHAM

he takes on players a hell of a lot more under malky than he did under jones. he even gets booked these days. he still blows hot and cold its true but he is an intelligent player whos best work tends go under the radar. we hardly improved when he was dropped last season did we. i don't know whats gonna happen with signings and tactics under the new boss but this season as we rely increasingly on set pieces, there is no-one that takes a better corner right now i know that much, his corner kicks are better than ever imo. i know thats not enough reason to play him but we would miss that for a start. i would concede perhaps he doesnt need to start every game though.

78 percent pass rate yes mostly side wides or backwards 2yards to where it came from :ayatollah:

Re: PETER WHITTINGHAM

Kimbo, Mutch and Whitts need to be rotated, any two from three.

Gary Medal probably doesn't do the Km's these guys do.

We need a left sided attacking midfielder and another premier league quality midfielder to help the rotation. Please on one mention Joe ledley as IMO he is just a local poorer imitation of Don Cowie.

Hi Ilan I think we need to move on from the Whittingham, Cowie and Ledley mentality now if we want to stay and progress in the Premier. Granted all good servants in the past and they need to be appreciated for their efforts. But time moves on apace; none are even remotely Premiership material, even Joe: let Tony Pulis have him if we wants. I think now under new management we as fans need to get a bit more sophisticated and start demanding true Premier quality. Don't you think us long suffering True Blues deserve it mate?

Absolutely spot couldnt agree more and I expect that some people were wetting their pants yesterday because Kev
Mc Naughton was in the team, another great servant to the club but not Premiership standard and his best days are long gone.
