Pubs Today Funny Old Market

You've got so many closing down and going out of business like that newly opened real ale house on Albany Road and then you got the Rompney Castle flying !!

And they say putting on football doesn't work ?

What's the crack Wez ?

The problem with the pub game over the last 10/15 years is the amount of tenants who are tied to companies like Punch or Enterprise. They've hurt the game badly. These corporates aren't too bothered about empty pubs either. Property values will eventually rise again

I'm going into my fifth year running a pub. One advantage we have is being free of tie. Mountain Ash was dead when we took the place on, but there's definitely been an upturn and two new bars have opened within the last few months. Not really competitors as they're more a real ale and dance music establishments. We're mostly live bands and sport the same as Wez

I've looked at venues in Cardiff. Maybe one day

It's a nightmare mate. I know a guy who was running a decent house for enterprise. One weekend he was running low on stock and he bought some crates of lager in. The rep turned up and saw them in the cellar. Within weeks he had a £4,000 fine on his doorstep

They had new tenants in soon after

To be honest mate I'm not sure to this day what he actually does.

Obviously I know the property thing during the Iranian Crisis and the mortgage stuff but after that never really gave it much thought.
