Vincent Tan set for £2.5 court showdown with Malky Mackay over compensation deal - reports
29th Dec 2013.

After Cardiff City owner Tan sacked Mackay on Friday, telling him he was unwilling to hand over any compensation, the Sunday Sun are today reporting there will be a courtroom battle for £2.5m

Heading to court? Malky Mackay and Vincent Tan

Former Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay is facing a six month court battle with owner Vincent Tan as he fights for his compensation – according to reports.Sacked Cardiff boss Malky Mackay putting Vincent Tan courtroom fight ahead of finding a new job.

Dec 29th, 2013 By Alan Nixon.

Scot axed on Friday was quickly linked with West Brom but his priority is chasing £2m pay-off PLUS Paul Ince now in Bluebirds' frame as Solskjaer interest cools

Whole new ballgame: Mackay faces a long legal wrangle with Cardiff chief TanPA

Malky Mackay will sacrifice his managerial career to take on Cardiff owner Vincent Tan in court, write Dave Kidd and Alan Nixon in the Sunday People.

The Scot will turn his back on football in a bid to win a £2million pay-off from the controversial Tan, who appeared to boo his own team after the Welsh side threw away a 2-0 lead at home to Sunderland on Saturday night.

Mackay, sacked by Tan on Friday and likely to be replaced by Paul Ince, was among the favourites for the vacant West Brom job but has told friends he will not return to management until his courtroom battle with Tan is over.

Mackay thinks he is due a golden handshake as part of his contract but Tan won’t cough up and now the sacked Cardiff gaffer, who called in the League Managers’ Association last week, faces a long fight for his cash.

Tan, who incensed Cardiff fans when he sacked the popular Mackay, outraged them even further on Saturday.

As the final whistle sounded he appeared to jeer his own team, who had allowed Sunderland, trailing 2-0 with seven minutes left, to snatch a point.

The Malaysian had heard supporters deliver a lengthy round of applause for their former boss midway through the first half.

Tan, who blames Mackay for over-spending in the summer transfer window, may turn his attention to Blackpool boss Ince as he searches for a replacement in the City hot seat.

Interest in former Manchester United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, currently boss of Molde in Norway, is thought to have cooled, while former England boss Sven Goran Eriksson has ruled himself out.

Ince – also wanted by Sheffield Wednesday – is now front-runner and his son Tom, who almost joined the Bluebirds last summer, could follow him to south Wales.

Ince’s only previous Premier League experience was a short-lived and far from happy spell at Blackburn, where he failed to win over players who were unconvinced by his training methods.

The former Manchester United and Liverpool star took Blackpool into the top six at the start of the season but financial restrictions, plus a run of suspensions, halted their momentum.

Wednesday also want Ince to be their new boss, but Cardiff have first dibs.

I thought that was what it said in the early reports, i.e. "Settlement has been reached with Malky Mackay..."

The 'clever' money appears to be on him taking over from "Big Sam" at the Steve Day sponsored 'Ammers; given further credibility after it has emerged that Malky is alledged to have spent a day at the Boleyn Ground as "guest" of a certain Penarth-born multi-millionaire a few weeks ago

All getting very confusing :(

Di Matteo would be a disaster for you.

Makes me laugh when people name him as experienced premiership manager.

Sacked at West Brom , and not being funny Carl Curtis could have managed the Chelsea side at the time. " get on with it lads "
