Give Cornelius a Break...

Sat Dec 28, 2013 8:12 pm

For me, the criticism levelled at Cornelius is mostly unjustified and unfounded.

The lad can't help the fee he was signed for, and if he was offered OTT wages, he's not going to turn them down.

However, anybody with a bit of sense can see that he hasn't played nearly enough games to be judged on his ability.

Sure, he should have done a lot better in that one on one with the keeper today, but I still say that a lone striker coming on for the last ten minutes isn't going to do a great deal, especially when we let the other team come at us and the rest of the teams' legs are tired.

Cornelius needs a good run of games before he can be judged properly. Odemwingie's had a good 15 or so appearances now and he's been hit and miss, although much of those appearances have been out wide.

Cornelius needs more than the odd ten mins here and there to show his full potential. As would any player.

He certainly doesn't look as good as Jordan Rhodes, jay Rodrigues or several others who cost no more than him.

The same people were saying the same things about Mutch 18 months ago. My problem is we have no reserve games that we could play him in to bring him up to match sharpness.
