Tan Hatchet Job MM

Sat Dec 28, 2013 12:16 pm

Just talking to a top newspaper reporter here at the Boleyn , telling me how on the " wire " tans been trying to pull strokes on MM , vindictive but he reckons as MM has always treated the press well it will be ok said if it was Jones would have been different matter :-)

There is some sanity then.

Unfortunately, Malky can do no wrong in some people's eyes.

bit of an exaggeration.

Not even all the press are now on Malkys side

Right... so Tan has no blame over given someone else the freedom to spend his own money without any authorisation over the deals? Now, forgive me if I sound naive here, but if you had millions to spend as a chairman wouldn't you want to finalise deals yourself or get a trusted individual with experience in finances to check the deals?

Tan fucked up big time and he's never going to admit he made a mistake himself. Not excusing Malky or Moody for some bad decisions but they had no experience of working with such masses of money. Even after reading the Daily Mail article I don't feel Malky and Moody are wholly to blame. I just can't believe Tan, a man with so much experience and nous in business made such a basic error.

Shock horror, the football community come out in support of MM saying what do Cardiff City and Tan expect from a manager. Brenda Rogers reckons Malky is the best manager that Cardiff have ever had. Is he f**k

If putting your trust in somebody who should know the game is a mistake. Then yes Tan made a huge one. Isnt it what we all wanted though. A manager in charge of all transfers and budgets.

Knowing the game but not knowing money. I agree mate. We wanted Moody and Malky to pick the players out and recommend fees but surely somebody be it Tan or Lim should have said "oh, wait, we're spending too much here" or "wait, we can't spend that much on one player".

That said, out of the £30m spent on transfer fees £20m of that was on Medel and Caulker who have been value for money so far.

I've never heard of any business, let alone a football club, where someone with no experience of finances has been absent from signing financial transactions off.

Clearly a mistake by guiding us to a League Cup Final, the Championship title and ensuring we are outside of the relegation zone at Christmas. Biggest mistake ever!!!

Any public relations professional will tell you that the time to start managing the bad stories is during the good times.

When times are good, provide the media with ready access to the club and its staff - this does not have to be carte blanche, but recognise that the media have a job to do and help them. This also includes being polite to the media and making them feel welcome - tea, biscuits and a smiling face can go a long way.

Even when times are less good the club can still provide people for interviews and issue press releases. The media is hungry for news in this 24 hours a day news age and if information is unavailable from the official sources, then it will seek out unofficial sources.

Dave Jones got slated because he had various bust ups with the media, so when times got bad the media were on him like a relentless pack of hounds.

Similarly, Cardiff City FC and its owners / directors are very poor at speaking to the media. When they are not even putting out press releases (which do not have to be ultra critical) giving (some of) their side of the case it is hardly surprising that they have been slaughtered.

Tan could have issued a statement saying that Malky had made a positive contribution to the club in many areas but that there were some such as poor results and not getting the best use out of some new players where improvement is required.

There are many better managers out there than Malky. Maybe we would have won the Cup Final, won the Championship playing amazing football and be mid table right now. But of course your absolutely correct it was all Malky's doing and nothing to do with Tan's millions

Yeah, maybe we should be top four now actually. Why stop at mid-table?!

Of course, I forgot Tan was making the managerial decisions during the past two seasons.

Bluebird64, I am on your side of the fence in this whole debate but bluelover does have a point about managers backing each other. They are very much a rare breed and will always back each other because they know it could just as easily be themselves that need the public backing before too long.

On this occasion though, I think it's obvious to see that the majority of the football community thinks this whole debacle has been handled appallingly.

If brenda rogers paid to watch the defensive drivel week in week out he may have a different opinion :laughing6:
