Good outcome for you lot.

Malky was not the best manager for the club, and it was probably sinking. The style had been worked out, negative unimaginative football devoid of any open play attacking threat which is key in this league. He was unexperienced and wasted an awful lot of money. Nice guy but his decisions didnt make any sense.

As I said at the time. His game plan was all wrong. It was clear you needed maybe 10 players, most of which should have been good enough to start. £35m was a very good budget. Yet he spent it all on 3 players and the rest had to be picked up from the bargain bin which only Theophile bore any fruit.

The Cornelius signing was the most curious and probably sticks in the throat of the hierarchy. Malky is not a stupid man, "Cornelius for the future" is clearly a cover up. Nobody in their right minds spends £8m on a striker "for the future" as a newly promoted side when the club is one of the most toothless sides in the league. It just doesn't happen. He spent a quarter of his budget on Cornelius and must have realised he wasn't as good as he thought he was - regardless of the propaganda on here regarding AC Milan etc - anyone who has seen him has realised he isnt very good. And that added with Brayford is the crux of the issues IMO. £10m thrown away.

However, if you get Solskjaer then you have a cracking manager on your hands one of which I will be slightly envious of and a manager I have been tracking for some time with a hope he could succeed Laudrup. He has had success wherever he has been and seems a sensible chap and will have a decent contact or two at United.

Not only that but I think the timing of the sacking was to enable the new manager to be able to strengthen the squad in January - which, lets face it - you need big time.

You just have to hope Sven isnt the manager otherwise i think you will sink without a trace.

Some good points. Malky has a lot of positives. Our victories over u and man city, and draw agsinst man united were achieved thanks to how malky approaches things imo.

But we do need someone new. I want to see kim get an advanced role, I want tp see wingers, I want to see campbell not so isolated. Hopefully now I willl

Richard keys and andy grey were told by Fjortoft that Solskjaer will not be taking over.

I think Vural or Sven and you could be in a bit of bother.

i think malky was a good manager, maybe too early for the prem. but i think in time malky will manage at a higher level, just needs to learn from his nistakes

Sensible post. Malky's style has been found out. Dragons without fire is how I'd describe us. OGS or Glen Hoddle will do.

Can't argue with any of that, sometimes you need a fresh pair of eyes, free of the emotion, well done :ayatollah:

I wouldn't say that, no. I am not a fan of Laudrups style of football and in my opinion is less directly attacking than previous years but on the other hand I cant really argue as he has had the most successful period in the clubs history. We are still scoring at a similar rate to previous years.

Laudrup likes to tuck in the wingers, play very narrow through the middle and allow opponents to ay without pressing. For me, I like the opposite of those traits and think the players we have match up perfectly for my preferred style.

It will probably be his last year one way or another so will be interesting to see if the style changes back.

4 wins out of 18 premiership games is not what I would call a good return. Viva Laudrup! :D

We desperately needed a change of manager, malky was going stale and running out of ideas. His inexperience was there for everyone to see,for me his fall out with tan is a blessing in disguise.

You mean 5 wins?

5 wins 5 draws 8 defeats. 18 games - 20 points.

No, its not great but not bad. Its on course for 43 points come seasons end. 3 points less than usual. So combining that with European competition isnt too shabby for me.

However, we were talking about attacking football, which you seemed to say we didnt possess. Which is where i disagreed.

In the premiership the European competition don't count. Only the Swansea fans give a shit about that, the rest of the prem don't give a fook what you do outside of the prem. (unless you get injuries and suspensions) :D

I stand corrected it is 5 wins, but most of the wins were early season (only 2 wins in your last 10 games) and form tells me you are not on course for 43 points.
So if you're happy with that's fine. :D

i havent mentioned European competition apart from the fact we are in it. The 5 wins are in the premier league

3 wins in our last 10 you mean? Where do you get your stats

Our form to which you refer is - 3 wins, 4 draws and 3 defeats = 10 games and 13 points (all defeats to the top 5).

That actually gives a projection of more than 43 points and yes im happy with that considering the taxing European campaign.

On form, over the last 10 games you have gained ten points. Only one win in your last six games.
With 20 games left and staying at that form puts you on 38 points. not 43.
You're happy with that though.

So, getting back to this.....

Yes quite far off. Ill get my calculator out....

Swansea - 18 games with 20 points. 23 goals scored and -1 GD.

Projections - 42 points with 48 goals and -2 Gd

..........

Cardiff - 18 games with 17 points. 13 goals scored and -15 GD

Projections - 36 points with 27 goals and -32 GD.

**As you can see the attacking threats are vastly different. 36 points will probably see you go down and 42 points will probably keep us up.

So the difference is championship football next year as opposed to Premiership football - if you dint think thats a big difference then that says more about your knowledge of football to be honest.

Why only our last 10? Surely its more accurate to take into account the whole season rather than just a portion.

Otherwise If you go one game further back than the mystical 10 it puts us on 42

Would you not agree that your last ten games are more indicative of your form?
Why not go by your last 300 games?

Re: Good outcome for you lot.

Sat Dec 28, 2013 2:09 am

Because the last 300 games would be different managers, squads and leagues.

This season is a new campaign with new players. It is far more useful to go on the full season so far than a select proportion decided selectively AFTER a win :D

We have lost our last 2 games, as have we, are you suggesting we are on track to finish on no more points than we currently have? No.

The more test subjects (games) you have the more accurate a prediction you can make, so cutting it in half does little - apart from harming the accuracy of the result.

The league takes into account ALL games not just your last 10 and thus so should any forecast.
