Sam Hammam: Solskjaer 'right type'

Fri Dec 27, 2013 6:19 pm

Also says Malky should have been sacked a while back

@simondavies45: Hammam: Mackay should have been sacked a long time ago. It was the right decision

@simondavies45: Hammam hopes Eriksson will not be new Cardiff manager because it could cost club a lot of money. Solksjaer right type of candidate

Interesting if true. Sam can be very persuasive so if he has Tans ear then Malky's days were numbered.

I overheard Hamman say we needed a totally new squad. Only Noone impressed him.

Perhaps why he thinks getting rid of MM was the right move.

That was at Forest Green. Noone was the only one who had a decent game that night.

Listening to Sam gave me the impression we were in for a hard season.

Not a pop at you at all mate, but that would be just the stupid kind of thing tan would do! Tell the manager to get a new squad because it worked so well for sunderland

People's judgment getting clouded.

After a run of poor results, moody gate, poor signings (cornilious,Peter O etc) falling out with Tan, today was sadly inevitable.

We all love Malky and appreciate what he's done for the club but football at this level is a harsh and uncompromising business. Everyone laying into Hamman on twitter and the radio are playing the man and not the message. Unfortunate as it sounds, Hammans comments tonight we're 100 per cent correct.

I told you a while back that good ole Sam was giving VT the benefit of his football knowledge  Being as Annis and Carl were so keen to bring SH back into the club, are they to blame for Malkys sacking?

Controversial former owner Sam Hammam, who is now Cardiff's life president and a confidante of Tan's, gave his backing to a move for Solskjaer, but ruled out a move for Eriksson.
He said: 'It is not like Vincent Tan woke up one day and said, "What shall I do? I will sack Malky". This has been going on for months, after we had bought all those players.
'If you look at why they reached the Premier League it is two things Malky's ability and also, far more importantly, Vincent Tan's money. But all the accolades went to Malky.'
He added: 'I hope (the new manager) it is not someone like Eriksson. We need hungry people, people who put their foot on the break when spending money... Someone like Eriksson, who has seen and done it at the nighest level is going to come wanting a lot of money and a lot of people around him.'
Referring to Solskjaer, Hammam added: 'From my point of view he is (in line with the profile Cardiff want). I have known him since he was a young kid and I tried to buy him when I was owner of Wimbledon. He had a good grounding at Manchester United and now he is manager at Molde he will have a good grounding.'

Annis,
For the first time ever I fully agree with Sam, he is saying what needs to be said, Malky has been playing the media since Moody went, and won a lot of sympathy by the sound of it.
With about two weeks to go at the end of last season, I wrote on this forum that if Malky plays the way he has played in the championship in the premiership, he would not last past Christmas, the result of that was boxing day's performance, Southampton did nothing special except play the ball on the floor and keep possession, in the mean time their players were running into spaces ready to receive the ball, have a look at the goals they scored, they had players in the box in numbers, when all we could do was play hoof ball and hope Cambell would get on the end of it, at one stage when one of their attacks broke down, they had five players in the eighteen yard box.
I am like a broken record saying how long I have followed the City, but the last year I'm not enjoying the football only the atmosphere like Swansea and Man City, in fact the guy who sits next to me said to me yesterday " I don't know how much more I can watch off this", that's sad. To say that a player who he spent £8 Million pounds on is not ready for the premiership is a condemnation of his own inexperience, and tells me that Malky is not ready for the Premiership, you think he would have bought at least two players with experience to keep us up, I was beginning to think that we were staying up on a prayer and nothing else.

I believe Malky has done a wonderful job in making the playing side of our club very professional, and has brought it into the modern world, but some times his on field tactics and substitutions leave me bewildered.

Everyone was after solskjeer at the time. There was only one club he was going to end up at though. Didnt Sam sign Hartson a couple of years later for 7mil?

Sam may be have been listening to Harry Redknapp, ie pretend you tried to sign every player that ends up good.

Sams right on the Malky issue though, once Moody went the managers position became untenable.
