Vincent Tan statement: " Cardiff City owner explains decision to sack Malky Mackay "
27th Dec 2013

Cardiff's controversial Malaysian owner speaks out after Mackay's sacking, insisting: 'Far too much dirty linen has been exposed in public, and not by me'

Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan has spoken out in the wake of Malky Mackay's sacking as Bluebirds manager.

The Bluebirds owner admitted the unseemly events of the past few months could not be allowed to continue, apparently criticising Mackay for making elements of the dispute public knowledge.

In a short statement, Tan said: "There has been a good deal of publicity generated by and about Mr Malky Mackay over the last few months.

"Indeed far too much dirty linen has been exposed to the public gaze. But, I stress, not by me. Indeed, I have deliberately not responded to this, hoping that the club can be judged on its football rather than personalised arguments about who said what to whom.

"I have, however, regretfully concluded that it is no longer fair to the Club, its players, its fans, or the public more generally, for this uncomfortable state of affairs to continue. Cardiff City Football Club means far too much to us all for it to be distracted by this."

Last week, a leaked story from inside the club revealed Tan sent Mackay an email telling him to resign or be sacked in which he listed a number of grievances, including Mackay's work in the transfer market

On the same day, Tan publicly hit out at Mackay after he told reporters he was targeting three January signings without consulting the club hierarchy first.

The club have also confirmed Mackay's assistants David Kerslake and Joe McBride will take charge of the team against Sunderland on Saturday.

I don't agree with Tan and pointing the finger at the manager who been sacked. Tan needs to sell up ASAP their is no coming back from this.

All I will say is the owner should have gone down proper channels ie the Board. The Chairman should have discussed matters with Malky in private.

Time now to move on and return to Blue.

You can't argue with that especially with no more funds available. :ayatollah:

I for one can not support a man who will stoop so low by causing trouble for our club upsetting the fans , then the background staff, sacking moody then appointing a painter decorater a mate of your sons then sacking our manager what next on the vt roller coster you go and spin coz i aint putting money in your pockets i bet there are loads of spare tickets going for sat god damb shame you Vincent Tan have ruined our club...

Who was it that said to the media [without informing the manager] that that man will get no money in january, surely that is getting your dirty linen out to the public. and also releasing the £15m alleged overspend at the same time.

Why are you getting so agitated on this topic. You don't support the City who are relegation candidates with WHU and you say Malky's heading for the Boleyn so it's 'cheers me ole china' surely?
