Cornelius, Campbell and Noone

Thu Dec 26, 2013 10:04 pm

I've always been a fan of Campbell, even in his Sunderland days but he's taken some stick this year for not playing well enough. But I've been saying all season that Campbell needs the support that Chopra had, so maybe stick Cornelius on for half an hour instead of the last two minutes and I think we saw today that he seems motivated when Cornelius plays alongside him. I believe a Campbell and Odemwingie partnership is too similar to Miller and Earnshaw. Neither of them are big enough and I believe their performance together is poor. I've also been saying all season that Noone needs to start playing more due to his pace and in my eyes, he was the only person on the pitch who put in a good shift in the first half. Lastly, I believe Taylor is too negative thinking, his tactics may aswell have been pass sideways or give the ball away today, appalling performance. Declan John was much better.

I say, drop Whitts, bring in Kimbo, play a 4-4-2 formation at home and make sure Taylor is more positive thinking and we should start climbing the table more! :ayatollah:

Were you watching the same game; Cornelius is a parks player at best.

So far, and I admit it's only on limited viewings, but Cornelius appears to offer less than Gestede. :o

He's shocking, we were conned big time, which is why Moody is no longer her IMO

lol give the guy a f*cking chance. Messi would look shit the way we're playing.

Kimbo or whitts is the choice, but not left midfield, both need to be in the middle. They are both highly ineffective out wide.

Were you there, did you notice his touch, his positioning, his runs, the fact that no other player would pass to him, getting out jumped by opposing players a foot shorter than him?

Thought Cornelius looked OK.

We were certainly improved in the 2nd half and he won nearly everything that came near him in the air. Offered a fair bit more than PO.

The price tag is what it is, people may be fair in expecting a bit more for £7m or whatever, but looking away from that he looked like he has got something to offer given a decent service.

No I wasn't there, I watched it online. Lawnmower sums it up perfectly for me.

I'll man enough to take the flak if proved wrong , but I'll put my neck on the line and say the Dane is one of the worst mistakes this club has made and is a massive awfully expensive mistake.

If he turns out to be a mistake then yeah it'll be an expensive one. I just want to wait until he's fully fit and getting a fair crack of the whip. Nobody could have turned that game at half time let alone a young striker short of firness& experience at this level.

To be honest i wasn't impressed with a single player in our squad today none of them worth what we paid for them, give him a full game then judge him properly i say

I think Cornelius was given a tough run out as Southampton was on form, but I thought he did a better job, much better, than Odemwingie. Give him some experience and he'll get better, I'd bet on it

Cornelius looked very poor.

As mentioned above, his touch, positioning, heading and running was dire.

One word.....pants.

He'll need a good manager and attacking coach to get him on song.

Price tag not his fault. Young player. New Country, new league. Not match fit. Look how long it took Peter crouch to come good. He couldn't head the ball for toffee at villa. Plus how much match time had he actually had. 6ft 4 not gifted with pace. If he'd had scored today you be saying something else. Needs time to adjust and bed in, agreed we don't have time. He needs to play with another striker in my opinion. I would have brought odem on at least he can hold up the ball. Plus have you ever played up front on your own chasing shadows. We lost today because we played too deep, should have kept noone on and Theo should have put that ball into row z!
