The unpopular opinion on Malky

Thu Dec 26, 2013 8:38 pm

I have been a big fan of Malky since his appointment. Perhaps I had rose tinted glasses on following the DJ era.
His managerial performance last season was fantastic. He took full control of the championship albeit with a very strong squad.
However we can all agree that it is not working in the Prem. His tactics appear to be somewhat wooden and we are being overrun far too often. The gap between the midfield and forwards is too big and restricting the amount of grass level football we can play.
We look like a championship side hoofing the long ball to a striker who is only 5'11. Campbell wants the ball to run on to, not some hit and hope chip where he is being overpowered by strong centre backs.
I'm not going to sit and pick holes in his tactical approach. I have been very saddened by the public airing of the relationship with VT and feel for Malky. It must be hard to work under such a pillock.
The point I've built up to is, maybe he isn't the man for the job. We have quality in our side and enough to stay up. Today was a shocking performance and I agree the players were to blame, but MM should not escape because he has a sympathy vote currently. He has been a loyal manager to the club and invaluable in our promotion but his tactics are clearly not working at the moment.
I want survival and think a change of personnel may be best for the club.
Not trying to be controversial, all opinions welcome

Your opinion is a very valid one. Malky wants the sack now and who can blame him, because by getting the sack he's set to make a few million pounds. This pay off - is equivalent to a 'lottery win' for Christ's sake. I think out of all the sides in the PL, on the whole City are the worst to watch. We've done fairly well against the bigger sides, but are struggling in our mini league and it's the mini league we need to do well enough in to survive. Changes need to be made now, otherwise we'll be propping up the league by January and by then it might be too late!

It baffles me why our midfield are so intent in going sideways and can't just pass the ball to the strikers feet when week in week or we see the away teams do it. Campbell Is forever chasing lost causes, down the channel

Campbell Is forever chasing lost causes, down the channel or long balls. And given high balls where he is never going to win. Why couldn't we sit Mutch just in behind the strikers and not cram the midfield with 3 midfielders the same depth as the centre backs.
