Whittingham

Doesn't do enough in my opinion and far too lightweight. When he was dropped last season, Cardiff improved. We need battlers in the midfield - as we are being overrun all too often. I know he's a fan's favourite, but he's not influential enough or consistent in enough games and too overrated in my opinion.

Whittingham passing the ball? How often have you seen him putting a split pass through for Frazier to run on to? This is what a payer with his skill should be doing - anyone can pass sideways. Frazier thrives on split passes just in front of him, but he gets didly squat all game. Perhaps its Malky tactics, but I don't see Whitts setting the PL alight like many thought he would.

He hasn't been a left sided player since the start of Jones who played him on the right if you remember, but at least he had targets to aim at in those days.

He should be centre midfield or bench

He has the skills, a lovely left foot, he can produce a good delivery into the box and he's a good passer. For me he's not getting himself into positions of where he can cause opposing teams enough problems. He should be picking up the ball over the opposing half way line, going forward laying off balls and receiving it back, picking out Fraziers runs, etc. He should be lingering around the penalty box when we're attacking and he should be looking to strike the ball at goal, or play those one two's - this is the player he should be - and can be. All I see him doing all too often, is when receiving the ball is passing it sideways or backwards. He's supposed to be a creative player - I don't see this consistently enough! All I'm saying is he could be much better used in the team, but he's got to want to take that role as well.

I cant believe you wrote that. In Medel's absence Gunnar was by far our most effective midfielder! He was the only one actually attempting to tackle but was overrun because of the lack of quality of the crap around him, except Mutch. Did Whittingham actually play today? And we've got quality like Kim on the bench again.

Not great, but an awful lot more than our regular bystander

Very few good displays yesterday but IMO whitts has dropped back into his lazy ways and back into his comfort zone knowing he'll be on the next team sheet which what happened a few seasons back.

Championship he can play left and get away with it. Madness to play him wide in the prem. He looked much more comfortable when moved inside but then we wasted Mutch. Wide areas should have been been a priority in the summer.
