Did TG set the bar too high?

I've only ever heard good things about TG. He was our introduction to Malaysian investors and when he brought in a very affluent friend (Tan) it's safe to say it was exciting times. It's also reasonable to assume (wrongly in hindsight) that TG's affluent friend would carry on respecting the club and it's fans the way TG did.

Although it's hard to find anybody who was excited about a badge and kit change many reluctantly accepted it knowing that without the change, there would be no investment from Tan and the club would only have a few months of survival.

Did the goodwill and respect that TG showed us pave the way for us to be more likely to trust Tan and his vision for the club? After all, it's not unreasonable to figure that a really great person is going to have close friends who are similar and aren't megalomaniac ass clowns. I wonder what TG would think of this mess now.
