Saturday reminded me why I got hooked on The City 40 odd years ago, pure tribalism and everyone pulling in the same direction against a, proposed, mad decision.
We need to be very careful now that we don't fall into the usual trap of widening the argument. People now screaming for Tan to go need to get real. Now that Tan has bought up virtually all the other shares there is no way he can walk away without taking a £140m hit in his pocket. He may be stubborn but he ain't that stupid and I don't see a line of billionaires forming a queue outside CCS to buy Tan out.
We've won Malky, at least, a stay of execution and we probably have the momentum to push Tan even more strongly for a change back to blue but if we start calling for Tan to go that will split the fan base and, subsequently, weaken our position.
Just look at BU for an example, they had a lot of support until they got abusive and added "Tan Out" to the blue agenda.
One step at a time and, perhaps, talking rather than protest may actually be more successful now that the point has been made so forcibly.
All IMHO of course !
