Some of you oldies (but Goldies) like me on here might remember this:
When I was a little kid me ole man used to take me down to the City to watch the greatest club the world has ever known. In those days (for some of our younger friends on here in case they don't know) the manager was Jimmy Scoular; like Malky a tough, canny Scot but perhaps a bit more uncompromising. Vinnie Tantrum wouldn't dare to f**k with Jimmy .......if the thought even dared to have crossed his mind, our Vin would have been horsemeat! Nevertheless Jimmy was one of our best ever managers prior to Malky. If it appeals to you, tap him up on Google; his is an interesting story.
Anyway all this old reminiscing from a doddery old jerk like me is not without significance today: There was a song which was dedicated to Jimmy and the club then which I think we could adapt for Malky and our BLUE identity for good purpose now. The song was an old Spurs adaptation of a Bing Crosby song from way back which was called ''Macnamara's Band''. City adapted it to our own lyrics, it went something like this:
''His name is Jimmy Scoular he's the leader of the BLUES
We never get beat at Ninian Park, we never ever lose
Take us to Division One, that's where we belong
So when you see the boys in BLUE you know you won't go wrong''
Now I think (subject to Malky still being with us Boxing Day, and I hope and pray he will), now that we got our voice and passion back with a vengeance at Anfield yesterday, we can adapt this song to show our support for Malky and celebrate our newly found confidence in our TRUE BLUE identity at the same time by singing something like this:
''His name is Malky M'kay hes the leader of the BLUES
We never get beat at CCS, we never ever lose
Take us to the Champions League, thats where we belong
So when you see the boys in BLUE you know you won't go wrong''
We are now on the map big time both as a club and our fantastic support too. The Scousers were right behind us yesterday, as were many other fans of other clubs (even some Jacks bless 'em) as they all sympathise with our sorry plight. But boy don't they all now know how loud and passionate we are and we are right up there in the Street Cred league!!!
Come on, let's revive this old song and all have some fun (WEARING BLUE EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US) starting Boxing Day.
Oh and lets have more ''Pick and Shovel, loud and proud please instead of some of those boring songs every club in the land sings. Lets show WERE CARDIFF CITY: WE'RE UNIQUE: WE MEAN BUSINESS!!!
Here's to you Malky
Btw if some of you youngsters out there are not familiar with how the song is sung, you can find an example of it on
