Taylor exposed too often

Sun Dec 22, 2013 11:03 am

I do realise we were up against an awesome team of players and potential league winners yesterday (Liverpool)

BUT

Taylor was exposed far too often for my liking.

What do you expect from a Championship player

Unfortunately for Taylor and us, he has the pace of a snail.

Tries his best but gets murdered by the top teams wingers, weakest link at the moment, while at right back Catherine has been brilliant.........

Agree with all said here and add that he always stops his runs before his pass and puts a team mate under pressure as it is so slow, as well as drifting inside far too often and leaving huge gaps. I don't suppose having Whitts in front of him helps his cause much as he has the pace of a snail too, and teams are undoubtedly targeting our left side as the weak link. To be fair to Taylor, KTC was mullered yesterday too.

Obviously not up to the job along with Gunnerson but Malky keeps picking them.

Re: Taylor exposed too often

He has always been exposed against genuine speed. Conway used to bail him out a lot

Re: Taylor exposed too often

Sun Dec 22, 2013 6:13 pm

Quite agree! Average Championship players at best: Taylor, Whittingham, Cowie and Odders. Cum on Malky, now you're back, repay our faith and ship 'em out to Scunthorpe or somewhere!

Re: Taylor exposed too often

Sun Dec 22, 2013 6:14 pm

Put Brayson back there. Ok he's right footed but the lad has pace and can tackle. He would be a good stop gap until the window opens (if we will be allowed to make any signings). Just need to find where the feck Malky has hid him for the past 5 months.

That Büttner will be available for loan when Man Utd bring in Baines and would make an excellent temporary addition

And it's reasons like this why we need money in January

Declan John should be given a chance he has a lot more pace and skill

United are getting rid of Buttner in Jan so the media are predicting, would you take a gamble on him would be cheap enough!

Who cares what his name is (malky doesn't), he's just a figment of my imagination. He doesn't exist as far as Malky is concerned.

Experience or not, John isn't exactly a poor player and can cope playing in the Premier League.

Young players who play Fullback thrive on it in fact. Look at Kyle Walker, Luke Shaw, Kieron Gibbs.. even that fella at Liverpool scored v Spurs is getting games even though he is replacing someone who is injured. Rafael is another one.

John is someone who could get a big fee if he gets in the team. I ain't saying he is the same quality but Luke Shaw didn't exactly excite anyone to start with but look at him now, hes 18 I think and playing week in week out and is being tipped as a big star for England and a future number 1 left back in a few years.

There must be some reason you left Ben Davies of that list......... :laughing6:

I was only think of a few big clubs and mentioning a star with Luke Shaw but apologies I didn't think of him but also another one who is outstanding in the Premier League it has to be said. It is also good that he is Welsh and young, we do need some really young and quality players who can cope at the highest level.

If he was English, he would now be the next big thing.

Why is it we can only produce good left backs right now as a nation?

Spot on, he doesn't get the plaudits he deserves but harsh reality of it.

Of any teams been keeping tabs on him?

Good question. Even Bale started out as a left back!

It's strikers we need!

I would imagine all the big clubs are keeping tabs on him. He just keeps getting better and better, plus he's got a very mature head on his young shoulders.

Will be a huge loss to us if/when he leaves.

Taylor is good but not in the same league.

Re: Taylor exposed too often

Mon Dec 23, 2013 12:03 am

I have no doubt about that but as there be any rumours of certain clubs?

Will be a huge loss if he is to go anytime and he does seem very level headed and enjoys his Football.

Taylor is a good left back but he hasn't got pace of the likes of Walker or any the others I mentioned.

No one that I am specifically aware of tbh.

One thing Taylor doesn't lack to be fair is pace. Certainly before his injury he was the fastest in the squad. Dyer declined a race with him in training :laughing6:

Now it's more a case of confidence.
