Kadeem Harris to return after injury

Sat Dec 21, 2013 7:53 pm

Kadeem Harris might have played his last game for Brentford after the on-loan Cardiff City winger was stretchered off during this afternoon’s win at Preston.

Harris was replaced by Sam Saunders late on in the first half of today’s 3-0 triumph at Deepdale, which moved the Bees within a point of League One top spot.

It was a great day for Brentford as leaders Leyton Orient were beaten and second-placed Wolves could only manage a draw.

But the injury to Harris, confirmed as a hamstring problem by Bees boss Mark Warburton, was the one blot on an otherwise unblemished copybook.

Harris’ loan stint is due to expire on January 5 and the injury throws any potential extension beyond next month into doubt.

“He’s got a hamstring problem,” Warburton said.

“He rode the first tackle, I thought he could’ve gone down, but unfortunately he didn’t and I think he caught his hamstring on the way down. Our medical team will assess him and see how we go.”

Warburton enjoys a good relationship with Cardiff manager Malky Mackay.

However the Scot is widely expected to be sacked in the next few days, casting further doubt over any potential deal for Harris.
