I have a feeling you may be onto something, as for all his shortcomings Tan is not stupid and knows he needs support from the fan base. But that outcome assumes that malky still wants to work for Tan - which if he does of course agree would make him an even bigger hero for standing up to Tan. Apart from losing the job aspect if he does go, which nobody is going to hold against him on his CV, Malky is going to come out of this pretty well whatever happens.
