Reaching inside your soul and being honest

Fri Dec 20, 2013 9:17 am

Of course many of you screaming last night on here sold your souls a while back when you flogged out to the Tanpon and backed his franchise and red shirt but those of you who have one left need to be honest with yourselves.

The ones who sold their souls and are now shouting Tan out , will soon roll over again once a new manager of favour is announced or a couple of January signings of good stature.

Protests, riots, don't make me laugh, you couldn't even give a shit when your tradition and history was sold down the river and you become the biggest laughing stock in football. Tan out today, Tan in tomorrow, that's the majority.

It's the genuine long term fans I really feel for , the 5,000 of them , real fans who didn't just jump on the band wagon of glory, the real supporters of Cardiff a City, life long hard core fans who took the pain week in and week out In the main but still loved and supported their club and enjoyed every moment of it.

It's a shame they got outnumbered by the new generation of Liverpool/ man Utd fans who now profess to be loyal cardiff supporters.

The CCFC of old died long before the rebrand.

Youll soon find out when you move to the Olympic Stadium.

Polo, your probably right there fella , the move to Lego land saw many arsenal, man Utd, Liverpool fans jump on board and egg chasers, and those who claimed to have been going solid for 40 years when they haven't.

Steve I am a football romantic and very nostalgic but its a different animal now.

Its no longer for the working class, especially at the top level, and as much as we would like to see those days back they are gone forever.

I only go now because as a family man with 3 girls in the house its the only bit of mates time I have with the fellas every other weekend.

Ive been going through the motions for years.

Greater Success and Bigger Grounds attract more fans?
Your not gonna get new die hards are you?
Surely it would be better to have plastic fans of Cardiff or West ham in your Case Steve, than Pool and United ones etc etc?

Every club has them yes?

When Ninian Park closed so did the final chapter of old Cardiff City.

We were one of the last relics of a bygone era. Most who wax lyrically about old school days are talking about the 70's ~ 2009. Lets be honest no one talks about the football it was just a good laugh.

The Olympic Stadium will sanitize the last remnant of the dark years of football, probably only Elland road left....

The rebrand has only little to do with the apathy

The romance of Cardiff did diminish for me when we left Ninian, but the rebrand killed me!

Growing up I would go to every game I could (that didn't clash with my games), I have been hooked from 6 years old when Blakey scored against Man City in the FA Cup. I have travelled the country watching them in every division, I have been to new grounds, old grounds and some grounds umpteen times. I have been in Cambridge at 10am on a Saturday morning and made it back (after our game was called off for a frozen pitch) to watch Ledley's Debut! Being a season ticket holder on the Bob Bank as a 10 year old was the real deal for me, I loved the City, I loved the chants, I loved the crowds, Blue was my blood, Cardiff my religion and Ninian my church! That never died or dimished for me, even seeing the fair weather supports at the Millenium Stadium or Wembley I embraced these times, they were good for the club!

But... last August 2012 when I went to watch us play Birmingham City, was the end of this era! My heart could not believe what my eyes were seeing, my beloved Bluebirds, playing in Cardiff in RED! I understand for some they wanted premier league football, to see the stars playing against the Bluebirds, but for me, I didn't care for the premier league, I didn't care for multimillion pound signings, I cared for our passion, our history, our "brand". My grandfather has a bluebird tattooed on his arm, and as a child I was told stories from 30's,40's,50's,60's of how my grandfather used to slide under the grange end to get in the ground, of all the great players of yester year, of our demise as football giant. But on that Tuesday Evening it all came crashing down, I felt empty... My Bluebirds had gone, they were still there in name, but in spirit it had gone...

I haven't been back since, I want to, I miss it so so so much, but no matter how much I want to go, I know it will hurt more watching them play in Red at home, than missing it all together. Football is such a massive part of my life, If im not playing im watching or coaching or talking about football... but I am now a lost, so lost that the club that made me fall in love with the game is now making me even question my own love for the game.

All I want for Christmas is my club back!
