Rate Malky

I’m interested to know how people actually rate Malky as a manager – putting aside the fact Tan is manager – totally taking him out of the equation.
How do people feel he is doing this season the last two years when he has had good funds. Please rate him as you see as well, be interesting to see the comparison.

Ability in the Transfer Market
Championship winning season: 8/10 Thought he bought well
Premier League so far: 5/10 Cornelius and Brayford signing “odd” and key areas that needed strengthening Wide and upfront not sorted.

Results
Championship winning season: 9/10 Could have collected a few more points but can’t ask for much more than what we had.
Premier League so far:7/10 Out of the bottom 3 with by a small gap, picking up bonus points against the big boys but struggling against some of the teams around us.

Style of Play
Championship winning season: 4/10 I think with the players we had we should have been playing a better brand of football but then again it’s a tough league to get out of, Malky played the percentages and with better players it worked (hence the 9/10 on results)

Premier League so far:4/10 Pretty much carried on from last season but we are playing against better teams and better players so I think the more defensive nature is reasonable. Its not denying we play a very defensive style under Malky and I think that works against the big teams. Against the “weaker” clubs where we should be picking up more points it’s a big concern.

Dealing with the Media/Fans
Championship winning season: 7/10
Premier League so far: 7/10
I don’t think his media interviews change, he comes across very well and certainly thinks about what he is saying, everything he says is said for a reason IMO. I do find he says some strange things after matches, about how well we played and how many shots we had and things like that which seemingly are in the end untrue. But then I’m an odd one and enjoyed Dave Jones more frank interviews blaming everyone else lol

In Summary looking over my personal ratings I think Style of football stands out as his biggest weakness. What is more important being entertained or results? a mixture of both would be nice but many managers have tried and failed with both.

How much of a disaster would Malky going be?
Personally I like Malky and think he is a decent manager but I don’t feel I owe him any loyalty, would he have jumped ship to Everton? of course he would have given a chance, he had many a opportunity to rule himself out and I wouldn’t blame him. if he is replaced then so be it but he then needs to be replaced with a better manager, how easy that is I am not so sure. But if a new manager is going to be put in place it does need to be done before January.

Popular with most fans and good in the media. A true gentleman from what I have seen.
Style of play - can be exhilarating in flashes but awful too and too negative for the majority of the time.
Results - we seem to be able to get results against the top sides but inconsistent against the so called weaker sides i.e. the only team to do double against us last season was Peterborough and we have failed to score this season in games against West Ham, Palace, Villa, Norwich and Stoke from the lower half.
Transfers - hit and miss to be honest and this is where the problem seems to really lie. Too many signings have not been first team players and those that have i.e. Odemwingie have not really been any better or are too similar than we already have. Stand out buys have been KTC, Medel and Caulker and last season Campbell.
Overall I would say 7/10 - players undoubtedly give 100% and defensively pretty good. I would have liked to have seen him stay until the end of the season as I do think he would keep us up, sadly that isn't going to happen and whoever comes in now is going to have a massive job just to win over the players and fans.

I think 7 out of 10 is reasonable. He has done a lot right but some dodgy decisions the last few months.

Thought the brand of Football in the Championship was good, I enjoyed a lot of the home games.

I think winning is always enjoyable. Considering we ran away with the league I didn't think we looked the dominant team we could have been.
