Could Dave Jones return to Cardiff?

Dave Jones is being linked with a sensational return to Cardiff City.

The former Bluebirds boss, sacked recently by Sheffield Wednesday, has been installed high in the betting after bookmakers began taking odds on who the next permanent Cardiff manager will be.

Malky Mackay’s position at the helm became shrouded in more doubt this week after owner Vincent Tan’s outspoken criticism of him in an official club statement.

Manchester United legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been installed as overwhelming favourite by two bookmakers to succeed Mackay, if and when he does go.

But Jones has also been projected towards the top of the list, although the WalesOnline it would more likely be in a director of football capacity.



Football sources tell us Jones’ name is being heavily linked with such a role, even though he took legal action against Tan after being dismissed by the Bluebirds in May 2011.

Jones and Tan get on much better these days, their rapport having grown after they reached an out of court settlement over compensation owed.

Jones has kept his house in the Vale, just a short drive from the Bluebirds’ training ground, and would find it hard to say no if Tan offered him a role.

City chairman Mehmet Dalman has made it clear the club need expertise at that director level to guide Tan on transfers and other football matters.

Yilmaz Vural, the Turk who claimed recently he was set to join the Bluebirds once compensation between the club and Mackay had been sorted out, is also in the frame.

City chairman Mehmet Dalman dismissed Vural’s remarks, which had been reported in the Turkish media, as ‘rubbish’ and ‘fantasy’.

There were even suggestions he had never heard of Vural, who has managed most clubs in the Turkish League.

That prompted Muzzi Oscan, Vural’s agent, to tweet this week: “Sometimes you have to keep quiet and let the actions talk! No Turkish person can say they don’t know Yilmaz Vural!”

The problem is Jones is the biggest expert on "f**k all" so he doesnt really fit the bill me thinks!!!!

Since Dave Jones has left our club he has never had a good word to say about us, I would be stunned if he returned in any way.

Dave Jones always did well with small amounts of money at his disposal, he's got a large list of contacts in the game and seems to get on well with quite a few managers.

It's also a fact that Dave Jones wouldn't have wasted the money that Malky and Moody wasted. Jones brought into the club four club legends in my eyes for very minimal sums of money. I think his movement in the market with more money would have been brilliant. People slated Dave Jones for his lack of Plan B and his lack of charismatic charm. Malky has no Plan B either yet due to the fact he can talk as good a talk as Obama or a dodgy car salesman he is adored by many. Funny old world football.
