Premier League football is more important than anything else to most of their fanbase and those that may have been willing to do something about were scared off by Gwyn's henchmen threatening them if they did anything negative during a game.

I remember our lot screaming non stop for 90 mins at the game Petty attended and then invading the pitch at the end in an attempt to get to him (which some succeeded in). He left shortly afterwards.

Like I said in another post, There's not enough of us want him gone. Too many Tan arselickers here. We gained too many glory hunters while in the championship.
