There must be some way of resolving the differences between Malky Mackay and Vincent Tan
I have a message for Vincent Tan and Malky Mackay. For pity’s sake get your situation sorted out - and fast.
The future prospects of our football club are at stake because of a row between two men who simply must do all they can to find a resolution.
Surely there is somebody who can bring these guys together, somebody trusted who can act as a go-between?
Cardiff City’s chairman, Mehmet Dalman, has been working to achieve that and he must not stop now. The situation between Tan and Mackay looks serious, but never say never. They can work together if they truly want to.
Mackay has the football knowledge needed – and Tan has done an incredible job with his financial backing. Both have played a major role in taking Cardiff City into the top flight. Let’s not risk destroying all that good work now.
The people I feel for most are, of course, the fans. They are hurting right now at a time when they should be enjoying seeing their team take on the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and others in the Premier League.
And what about the players? They have done a magnificent job so far under Mackay’s leadership, particularly with all this rubbish going on.
They must all be aghast at the toing and froing.
The players could have used this as an excuse, but, Crystal Palace apart, City have performed consistently well and been competitive.
Credit to the manager for ensuring his team have stayed on track, but this latest bomb – Tan’s statement – has changed things again.
It’s all becoming a bit of a joke now.
Cardiff City certainly don’t need this going being played out in the media.
I always felt January would be the time when we really found out exactly where we were with the owner and manager.
Then Malky talked about possible new signings and it sounded like a positive, that everything behind the scenes was improving or at least the two men would be able to find a way to move forward.
That, of course, was followed by a statement from Tan which made it clear he is totally unhappy with the manager even talking about signings. Mackay quite rightly wants to strengthen – any manager in the Premier League wants that.
Has Mackay had a chat about the January transfer window with either the chairman (Dalman) or chief executive (Simon Lim)? We don’t know, but new signings have been talked about for weeks now.
Maybe Mackay was trying to force Tan’s hand. Is that what this is all about? Maybe that’s why he is so angry.
It’s clear, though, that Tan, the chairman or CEO, until this latest statement, had not made it clear there was no money available for the new window.
Mackay said he would have to speak to the board and take his lead from them. He even mentioned loan players.
I assumed at that stage there had been a conversation and that it could be City would add a couple of loan players to their squad rather than big money being spent.
Right now nobody is coming out of this situation in a positive manner.
The situation is far from healthy and needs to be sorted out fast. There are five months left in the season, this is a crucial period and the two main men are going in completely different directions.
In truth only Tan and Mackay can resolve this. Tan has the power, while Mackay, of course, could walk away. But he won’t do that and who can blame him after leading Cardiff into the Premier League for the first time?
But one of them has to shift. They have to break the partnership and go their separate ways or find common ground and move forward for the sake of Cardiff City.
This is bitterly disappointing off the back of a terrific result against West Brom and as a player things like this can deflate you.
It must seem to them ‘Here we go again’.
This can affect so many different things in the club and right now neither man is coming out of this looking good.
Certainly, Mackay must err on the side of caution when it comes to comments. He must not antagonise Tan by talking about signings when they have not had a discussion.
This could be such a big season for Cardiff City and yet we are talking about problems off the pitch. That’s desperately disappointing for everybody.
Mackay wants to get on with his job and prepare for Liverpool away on Saturday, while the players need to focus.
Bluebirds fans, magnificent all season, simply want to get behind their team and play a part in helping them stay in the top flight.
And yet it’s the Tan and Mackay show. Nothing, really, to do with football. Get it sorted guys.
Talk to each other and make some big decisions which will help Cardiff City.
There must be no confusion going forward.
Right now it’s utter madness.

Could Sam bring Malky and Tan together?

Malky has only asked to strengthen the squad in January. This is hardly crime of the century is it. I am more worried that the club through Tan, Lim or whoever are now using the overspend as an excuse to have a go at Malky. The ove spend happened months ago and the time for Tan to critisize then and not now. Tan did not blame Malky for this at the time as I doubt it was directly his fault yet all of a sudden months later its all totally his fault and in between this remember the club publically were saying they were fully backing Malky. What a snake in the grass Tan really is and is certainly a dispicable character. The quicker we get shot of this idiot the better.

Who is to say the next guy to take Tan's place will be any better. Sam, Ridsdale, Tan not the best track record with our owners. The club is currently in the best shape it has been in for a very long time. Who is responsible for that? Malky is given the credit by the fans, Tan thinks he derserves it. There in a nutshell is your problem. Jealousy.
