Jason Perry: Fraizer Campbell is now worth £6/7million..?

Tue Dec 17, 2013 2:26 pm

I love listening to Perry but he was just on Talksport and there is no way Campbell is even worth that amount in my opinion.

Premier league English striker who scores goals. If he wasn't English he'd be around 3 million, because he's English I'd say about 5-6 million.

Scores goals?

I make it 85 premiership appearances and 10 goals.

3 in 15 this year.

£2.5m max.

Le Fonde scored a few goals in the premier league but he wasn't worth that last year

He's British so the price is elevated regardless. You should know that. Joe Allen was sold for 15 million!

I did elevate it. You bought him for 700k didnt you?

Ive more than tripled his price tag.

Re: Jason Perry: Fraizer Campbell is now worth £6/7million..

Tue Dec 17, 2013 2:46 pm

think we paid about 500k.

I think no more than 3 million really.

Having said that, we spend 2.5m on Maynard, who had been prolific previously in the championship and hadnt even played a premier league game.

If Grant Holt went for 2 mill, campbell cant be more than 3 mill. Id say Holt was a better player, and scored goals in the premiership. Campbell still has time to turn into a premiership player, but we only see glimpses of it now and again.

Then i think £2.5m is more than generous.

He is doing no more than he was in the Prem before you signed him, hes hardly prolific. It was an open market and you managed to get him for 500k so who the hell would spend £7m on him when hes done not much more than when he was available for 500k.

People dont think.

If Andy Carroll can get a transfer for 30 million and 15 million then there's hope for any British striker.
There's been loads of instances of a price tag being elevated by nationality rather than ability

Bellamy went to west ham for 9 million years ago, he didn't score alot.
Shane long went to west brom for good money and hasn't set the world alight neither ( technically not British)
Craig meckail-smith went to Brighton for 2.5 million
David goodwillie went to Blackburn for 3 million.

A strikers main job is to score goals I agree, but there's more to the modern forward these days than scoring goals.

You cannot set the benchmark at Andy Carroll  if so then im worth a good few million too. Yes a modern day striker can and should do more than just score... But his all round game is poor in all honesty.

 what website is that? How can they say his passing is weak. Jesus Christ. Well you've just set the bench mark by saying that he wouldn't be worth more than 2.5 million, I'm just giving my opinion with evidence of times when transfer fees have been elevated for nationality. Campbell has good pace and you could see that against yourselves with Williams struggling against him and Vorm being sent off, before his injury at Sunderland he was in the England squad and playing well. He makes all the right runs and he just needs the right support from our team and he will score goals. Glenn hoddle was full of praise when he saw him against man utd saying that he could be a contender for a place in the World Cup squad as his runs are excellent, the only thing needed was the right service, which unfortunately hasn't been given to him alot this season.

The system we play not even van persie would get many, malky leaves the striker too isolated

Re: Jason Perry: Fraizer Campbell is now worth £6/7million..

Tue Dec 17, 2013 3:45 pm

Based on his performances so far, I wouldn't pay more than 2.5mill for him. Guarantee that if we actually bought him for that much last season people would be moaning so much about how he's overpriced and we should get rid. Granted he would score more goals with better service though, which would elevate his price tag

 6-7 million?

Roathie is right - 2.5million is about right.

Even adebayo akinfenwa would score 3 in 15 in the premiership

its hardly warranting a reward. We have less than 3 goals up fron in as many month Absoloutely shocking. terrible

He probably is, still fairly young, would easily get over £5m.

Fairly young? He is 26. Fairly young would be classed as early 20s not approaching your 30s. If we could get over 5m for someone who has scored 3 goals this season then we should sell him. We would get 2.5m at best for Campbell.

Re: Jason Perry: Fraizer Campbell is now worth £6/7million..

Tue Dec 17, 2013 4:45 pm

it all depends really on who's the buyer, the current going rate for a english striker with a good work rate is already stupidly high. so i mean, if someone like west-ham are desperate for a striker, then yes, i could see them chucking around £5m at us for him. not saying they want him though but strange things happen in football

At the moment around 3m.

I do feel he can score goals though given a chance.

Re: Jason Perry: Fraizer Campbell is now worth £6/7million..

Our strikers are worthless at the moment. They are rated on their goal scoring ability, and the way we play we don't give them the opportunity to score. Plus they never play the full 90 minutes, one is hauled off and another given 20/30 mins. Their goal to game ratio will be low. I'd say Caulker, Marshall, Theo and maybe Kimbo are the ones who's value have gone up this season.

3 million. At the end of the day he could be worth a bit more than 3 million if used in the right formation. Considering we have just come up and play 1 striker it isn't exactly easy for him.

One thing is for sure - Campbell is worth MORE than what we paid for him :ayatollah:

His value on Transfermarkt has gone up to £3.5m.
