TAN IS WRONG TO PUBLICLY UNDERMINE MANAGER

Tue Dec 17, 2013 10:47 am

No matter whether you agree with his reasons or not, Vincent Tan is totally wrong to slate and undermine the manager in such a public manner. He's totally stirred it up again, when a private conversation would have been much more professional.

It takes the joy of winning games in the Premier League away. We should be enjoying this season but Tan just ruins it. You know something bad is going to happen in the future, we are just waiting for it.

Re: TAN IS WRONG TO PUBLICLY UNDERMINE MANAGER

Malky fired the first shot in public stop being so naive Chuckles.

Yes, Tan was more aggressive but Malky knew exactly what he was doing with his comments about Cornelius and the 3 players in January.

Malky is trying to engineer a move out of here, whilst trying to get a pay off at the same time.

Chuckles, that cuts both ways. You don't announce something like that without consulting your boss first and we both know that Malky doesn't do Jan transfer windows and said that as an opening salvo for other reasons.

A manager saying he wants to sign players in a transfer window is hardly a "firing shot". Its also what this team needs badly.

If Tan was as deeply upset as he says, he would have been much more professional in having a quiet word with Malky - or getting one of his henchmen to do so.

All Tan has done is stir the whole situation back up again. Maybe that's what he wants?

Are you deliberately missing the most obvious point. That announcement by Malky was the most unMalky like thing he's ever done(if you get my meaning)and I don't think he's finished yet.

In normal circumstances no it isnt but when your recruitment office has been fired for overspending on an already huge sum in the summer, and the chairman alludes to the fact there will be no money to spend the previous week then to come out and say you want 3 players, and one you signed for 8.5m + add ons is not ready then that is stoking the fires.

And if we still badly need players after being given that amount to spend then its no-ones fault but Malky's.

Re: TAN IS WRONG TO PUBLICLY UNDERMINE MANAGER

Tan should just sack Malky. This whole situation is boring. Even if Malky stays until the end of the season and we stay up he is still going to leave ASAP so it makes no difference.

This whole circus is a waste of everyone's time. If the relationship is irreprable then get someone new in.

Can't understand how someone can criticise him for over spending when he isn't the one that signs off the deals. Surely any overspend is the responsibility of people above Malky.

Depends on how you measure it. I'd say if someone bought a £9mil striker and said he was no where near ready 5months later I'd start to count that as an overspend.

I'd say it was foolish to write off a striker who hasn't been given a fair run yet.

Unless you expect Mackay to now look into the future and see when players are going to get injured too?

As I've already said, whether you agree with Tan or not - to publicly undermine the manager in the manner that he has, is wrong.

Changed your tune somewhat Chuckles you said at the time of Moody's departure that you had no issue with the sacking of Moody if he had overspent but his replacement.

For me the responsibility is not just the person signing the cheques its also the persons controlling how the budget is spent, in this instance Malky and Moody.

I don't have an issue with the sacking of Moody if that was the case. I didn't say it about Malky.

How Tan can issue a statement criticising the manager for overspend via the very person who should have had the final say on it (Lim) is bloody daft.

Mmm quote he's not ready yet? who said that about cornelious? Wasn't tan was it! So spending 8mil on a reserve player is very good use of money ?, malky has engineered this so he gets his payoff it's that simple. Why didn't malky do it in private? Tan has every right to respond he's the boss malky is the employee.

Yes I agree with you on that one Chuckles, and it is a whole sorry episode.

I just dont think Malky is innocent.

Nothing you've written about Cornelius makes sense - so I'm going to ignore it. I've said nothing of the sort about Cornelius being ready.

Cornelius is t a reserve player. He's a player who's been unlucky with injuries. Once back to full fitness, I've no doubt he will play.

Malky said he wanted 3 players. Nothing else.   Tan has every right to respond to that - but to undermine him in public is wrong. :thumbright:

correct polo and i wouldn't be surprised if he's not playing Cornelius on purpose just to whined tan up.

Fair enough. I know when I've had a budget to work to & I've managed to squeeze a few extra quid on it, it's my superior that would have signed it off & would have had to take the responsibility for it.

Ok malky said cornelious is not ready for premier! you think that its ok to spend 8ml on reserve player ? Malky new he had no money in Jan so why ask for something he's not going to get? Why make it public? Everyone bar you knows malky wants to be sacked so can have payoff, tan has the right to respond same as malky should have gone to chairman as he was supposed to do. But he chose public arena instead, he undermined tan if anything.

Chuckles, just because you keep repeating yourself it doesn't make you right.Theres two sides to this and only a fool can't see that Malky is doing his own bit of engineering and it must be said not in the interests of the club either.

So how do you know that Malky wants to be sacked? Or are you making an assumption - as you often criticise those who make assumptions on here.

Stop being a hypocrite Allan.
