" Statement from Simon Lim(CEO) Regarding Malky Mackay "
' Cardiff City boss Malky Mackay's plans upset owner Vincent Tan '
Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan is "extremely upset" after manager Malky Mackay said he was hoping to recruit three new players in the January transfer window.
Chief executive Simon Lim says Tan feels Mackay has had sufficient funds to keep the club in the Premier League.
He added ex-recruitment boss Iain Moody had been removed amid a £15m overspend.
Cardiff's summer signings
Andreas Cornelius (£7.5m, from FC Copenhagen)
John Brayford (£1.5m, from Derby)
Simon Moore (Undisclosed, from Brentford)
Steven Caulker (£8m, from Tottenham)
Gary Medel (£11m, from Sevilla)
Kevin Theophile-Catherine (£2.1m, from Rennes)
Peter Odemwingie (£2.25m, from West Brom)
"As such, he [Tan] has stated that not a single penny will be made available in January," said Lim.
In a statement issued by the club, Lim said: "Tan Sri Vincent Tan was extremely upset to read quotes from the manager concerning the possibility of new recruits, before he had been informed whether funds would be made available.
"He believes that doing so unfairly raises supporter expectations, placing unnecessary pressure on the club.
"His view is that due to the funds already committed, including the originally-authorised summer transfer budget of £35m that rose to £50m in total, including add-ons, the manager has been fully supported.
"The overspending of £15m has upset Tan Sri greatly, resulting in the removal of Iain Moody as head of recruitment. As such, he has stated that not a single penny will be made available in January.
"Having been the highest-spending promoted club and the seventh-highest spender in the Premier League last summer, the owner believes that the manager has been given the best possible chance of retaining our Premier League status."
Iain Moody was replaced as head of recruitment in October by Kazakh Alisher Apsalyamov, who was at Cardiff on work experience before his appointment and has since been temporarily suspended in a query over his visa.
Moody has since taken up a role at Crystal Palace.

I think Malky knows he is a dead man walking and has come out with the target quote before Liverpool game looming after thrashing Spurs. If he goes before it will be head up. If Liverpool give us a thrashing he will go with a whimper . I think he should stay and all the players give their all for a relegation fight which we can achieve. He's had his budget and although I dislike Tan I don't blame him with the money. We have bought some stinkers

That's the way I see it. Any man that doesn't stick to a budget is a fool. Look at QPR last year. Spent and Spent. They still went down because they quit

lol only brayford and cornelius haven't played. cornelius has been injured and isn't match fit so why on earth are people judging him. makes u look stupid honestly. cornelius will be fine.

Malky and moody fucked up in the summer spending huge money and now Tan and Malky are playing a game..... One results in the the club paying malky and one results in malky getting a pay off.

In a way Malky does some good business in the window along with some bizarre ones.

overall malky did shit in the summer.. 8 million on cornelius is a joke, if he his not ready for premiership.. medel is good but never worth 9.5 million or what ever he paid.. caulker good deal i admit, but brayford?..Apart from caulker, we have not vastly improved since last season. you would never believe they have added 34 million pounds worth of talent.. tan is right on this one..even though he must have give the go ahead in the first place..I wouldnt give malky another penny either..

How can you judge Medel after 4 months after being introduced to British Football!?
You say Caulker is a good deal yet Medel isn't, strange that.
Caulker and Medel are great deals and hopefully we can get the full price tag out of them both.

medel is a stopper, not a goal scoring creative midfielder, which in my opinion you pay your big money for.

winners of the championship and a huge budget, should at least finish mid table in my opinion, with a good manager

So Malky signed Medel to be a goal scoring midfielder but turned out he was a CDM?

Like Huddlestone who can do both. How much did Steve Bruce spend at Hull?

Cardiff City chief executive Simon Lim has ruled out the possibility of the club spending any money during the January transfer window, Sky Sports understands.
After earning three points against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, Bluebirds’ boss Malky Mackay told reporters he would speak to club owner Vincent Tan about the prospect of bringing in three new players in the New Year.
The turbulent relationship between Mackay and Tan has lead bookmakers to slice the odds — from 12/1 to 7/2 — on the former becoming the next English Premier League manager to get sacked.
According to reports, Mackay, whose current contract expires in the summer of 2016, was close to resigning after Tan replaced head of recruitment Iain Moody with inexperienced, 23-year-old Alisher Apsalyamov last month.
But Mackay could actually end up owing the club a large sum should he decide to resign, meaning that Tan would likely have to sack the 41-year-old boss if he is unhappy with his return on investment.
“Tan Sri Vincent Tan was extremely upset to read quotes from the manager concerning the possibility of new recruits, before he had been informed whether funds would be made available,” said Lim.
“He believes that doing so unfairly raises supporter expectations, placing unnecessary pressure on the club.
“His view is that due to the funds already committed, including the originally authorised summer transfer budget of £35m that rose to £50m in total, including add-ons, the manager has been fully supported.
“The overspending of £15m has upset Tan Sri greatly, resulting in the removal on Iain Moody as head of recruitment. As such, he has stated that not a single penny will be made available in January.
“Having been the highest-spending promoted club and the seventh-highest spender in the Premier League last summer, the owner believes that the manager has been given the best possible chance of retaining our Premier League status.”
Cardiff (4-5-7), currently in 15th-place in the league table (four points above the relegation zone), will travel to Anfield to take on a in-form Liverpool side at the weekend.
Luis Suarez, who has tallied eight goals and three assists in his last three Premier League appearances, has scored more goals (17) than 10 top-flight clubs, including Cardiff, this season.
As a result, the Uruguay international, 26, is just 5/1 to bag a hat-trick on Saturday.

Simon Lim, Vincent Tans right hand man( our CEO), signed every paper, all the players off and all the Cheques. No one forced him, did Malky hold a gun to his head ?
Mon Dec 16, 2013 11:49 pm
I can't see what the Great Dictators problem is, all Malky has said is he would like to strengthen in 3 areas, but would first speak to the Chairman. Which is the correct way to approach things.
All hail our very own Bond villan!

If Medel continues playing well for us and has a good World Cup we could sell him on for double what we paid so can't really say hes a waste, personally I don't think he'd look out of place in the champions league!if man utd signed him for 9mill it would be good business,no one would bat an eyelid but coz its us people argue could of made the money go further, which their entitled to say so! caulker again could in future sell him on for double if he continues developing the way he is!cornelius at the moment is the main signing where all not sure about, but still very young and been injured,I'm not gonna judge him intill he's had a few starts for us!brayford 1.5mill not playing but hes ok cover if hit with injuries!Theo's doing ok!also some of last seasons signings in future could be sold for profit if we ever needed to sell,Kim's one and defo Mutch!malkys hasn't done to bad even sir Alex brought some buds veron etc its a lot of money I know but you can't guarantee in football,Maybe all cornelius needs is that first goal then bang!cant stop scoring!its a funny old game!

Annis, you are right...and it wasn't so long ago we thought Lim had been "ushered out of the door" quietly as a result of his own ineptitude
Seems we were wrong and Lim has slithered back under the door, eager to 'impress' his Guv'nor more than ever
Personally, I don't think a heavy defeat against Liverpool is a foregone conclusion and I hope Malky and the boys pull off a result that sticks two fingers up at the doubters!

£22m for Medel?! f**k my eyes.
Hes been average this season and thats a fact. Hes a cult hero because of his reputation which hypes a bad performance into an ok one, an average performance into a good one and a good performance into a world class one. In terms of genuinelly good performances - hes had a handful at most.

He's been better than average apart from that odd game

His pass completion rate, tackles made, duels won, key passes made etc stats are average. Very average in fact.

Agreed Dando. Medal and Caulker were brilliant signings for a club at our level. Theophile Catherine is someone I'd put in that group too. Some of the others could come good.
Why do people just focus on the negative? Deja vu. Same statements were being made this time last year about different players who have now proved themselves.
We're playing at the highest level in most of our lifetimes. Enjoy it.
