He took over a team that finished 4th and 5th........he spent over £100m on players in the summer......they have lost 6-0 and 5-0 to two of their closest rivals......and he does not seem to know his best team or formation........he had one good season at porto..........why did they employ him ????

For the amount of games he was in charge he had second best record in their history! So hardly a failure is he? Levy has lots to answer for if you believe what is said.

i do agree that he spent a huge amount, and im not sure that daniel levy has got something to do with who is purchased...but they are hardly relegation material.....and champions league is only 5 points away... :ayatollah:

To be fair to AVB, everyone in football seems to feel that it was Baldini signing these players, not AVB. AVB's problem this season has been his stubbornness, which included sticking to tactics that weren't working for much longer than he should've. Yes, they were seeing a lot of the ball, but it was in the wrong parts of the pitch, and Soldado was being played in a role that doesn't suit him, yet AVB wouldn't throw the guy a bone and adjust his formation as such.

I've always liked AVB, but he's annoyed the f**k out of me this season. Spurs can still make that top 4 if their next manager hits the ground running, but to be honest, this is a horrible time to be looking for a new boss. Confidence is shot at the club, and they've got games coming thick and fast. Should have ditched him after the Man City defeat.

If we.........a side fighting for religation.....had lost 3-0 to west ham at home......6-0 to man city.....and then 5-0 to liverpool everyone would be calling for Malky's head.....there is a liitle bit more expectation at spurs....especially with the money spent.

Of course we would but then we are not at spurs level? It's been coming long before results you mentioned so to me it's an excuse for levy interference again! He's got a bit of a reputation for it apparently.

I think I can give much more clarity on AVB's sacking as there are two stories at Spurs I've known about for around a year. (If anyone cares!) The only thing in football I've ever been 'in the know' about...

1. This won't be a big surprise - Spurs told Gareth Bale in confidence that he would be aloud to leave last summer about fifteen months ago on the agreement that he would give them another season, which he did, and that he wouldn't make this public information or leak to any bidding parties. To his huge credit Bale and his agent kept his mouth shut the whole time even when the press here were making him out to be villain AND a higher transfer fee meant less of a signing on fee for him. Things did get rocky when Spurs were playing hard ball but they always intended to sell. Bale left the club with huge respect from the staff at Spurs.

2. AVB. AVB has not been liked at Spurs for about nine months. Last spring he held 'supposedly secret' talks with PSG and accepted their job offer to replace Carlo Ancelotti. But then PSG did a u-turn on AVB and oppted to wait for Laurent Blanc instead. AVB went public a couple of months later claiming he had turned PSG down and made himself out to be a hero, but the opposite was true. Everyone, players and staff knew about AVB's accepting of the PSG offer and he has long since lost respect of employees of the club. Why it has taken almost a year to sack him I can't tell you. Contacts? Something to do with signing these big name players in the summer? I don't know. All I can say is he won't be missed there and, in my opinion, he definitely deserved to go.

Bottom line is, managers aren't given enough time. Yes, AVB has spent an awful lot of money but at the same time, Levy has had a good few managers there in recent years.

These chairmen just don't learn.
