City under-18s enjoy derby victory

A fantastic team performance saw City’s U18 side storm to a 6-1 win over Swansea City at Fairfield Training Ground on Saturday morning.

The young Bluebirds took an early lead when Jamie Veale curled home a fantastic effort from the edge of the area following a fine lay off from Will Taylor.

Alex Samuel slotted home an instant easier after a rare defensive slip in the away defence, but Kevin Nicholson’s side retook the lead when midfield dynamo Tom Burridge placed home from the penalty spot after the break.

Cardiff took a two goal advantage into the break when Abdi Noor composedly slotted past the Swansea keeper, Taylor providing an exquisite chipped assist as the away side took full control of the tie.

City came out of the blocks for the second period in determined fashion, and bagged a fourth goal on fifty minutes. Pacey winger Tom Pearson capped a fantastic performance with a well-deserved goal smashing home a rebounded Noor shot.

The away team added a fifth goal on sixty two minutes with centre half Tom James risking injury by over stretching to poke home Burridge’s long range free kick. Arguably the goal of the match came with just four minutes remaining, full-back David Tutonda controlling the ball on the edge of the penalty area before using his pace to beat three Swansea defenders and rifling home a right footed drive to the delight of his team mates and coaches.

Cardiff City: Massaro, Rees, Tutonda, Burridge, C Watkins, James (Lavery, 84), Pearson (Roche. 68), Veale, Noor, Taylor (Southam, 75), Bellamy. Subs Not Used: Phipps, Matthews.

Typical jack hanging on to anything they can.
if you wanna get technical you have the worst support in the league?

why is that? because your club is shit no one wants to invest in big grounds or turn up for your games

Cardiff u12's 2 - Swans U12's 4, this season.

In the return fixture you spanked us 5-0 at ours.I saw the home game and cardiff had a big ginger kid at the back who was 6ft 5 and 11 yr old.Comical it was as all Swanseas kids are tiny.

What happens to swans teams after 12yrs of age ? As don't seem to progress that well! Or is it just not against us? :laughing6:

I went to watch the match at Treforest a few months ago for the U12 and they played two simultaneous games which Cardiff won convincingly. I assume they have played again at Treforest this year. The young lad playing centre half is huge but is very good fair play

So we can thrash them yet again in the fourth round of FA Youth Cup on Saturday 25 January 2014

Results don't matter until they get to 16 years of age. Performance/development is what matters and whilst winning is a good habit to pick up at a young age developing players and getting them playing to a system is what matters in the formative years.

I'm not sure where and when the swans kids won 4-2 but i can remember it being a revenge game at Llandarcy as all the parents were yapping about it.That big ginger lad is very good like you say but I couldn't believe the size difference. You had a young lad called Ruben i think his name was and he looked pretty special too. There's been a lot of problems with the Swans academy of late. The parents are tamping with the way they are playing and being coached.Like Gareth has just said,it's all about the performance and not the results but it's the way they are playing.2-0 down and they still insist on passing it around the back for the next 5 minutes,a bit like our first team really.

My brothers boy plays for the 12's and is a super little player with all the tricks in the books but they're trying to erase it from his game which is wrong in my opinion. If he wasn't under contract my brother said he'd pull him out and have him playing local league football instead. The head of it all Tony Pennock has just been sacked/gardening leave and we've brought in a Spanish coach with a great reputation so everyone is hoping things will change down there now.

The pressure on parents and grandparents is ridiculous though and it dominates their lives, and what for? The 1% chance they make it.

I know what you mean and agree totally. It does dominate your life for a tiny chance of making it. My son has been up for the trials at Treforest on three occasions. Twice at U11 last season and once this year at U12. He has not made it into the squads but has had some great feedback but he yas now decided it is just not worth worrying about. He has stopped attending the ADC and just plays for his club. If he had been accepted, don't get me wrong he would have bitten their hand off but I'm not sure he would of wanted to stop his rugby and boxing for that tiny chance.
His friend in school is in the Swansea U12 and he is unable to participate in anything else. That must be hard for them plus the one day out of school per week. However I do take my hat off to those that stick with it. We all have dreams and there is nothing wrong with that but it can't be taking over your life. Plus it seems very difficult for new boys to break through and oust the players already there. I have been this for myself unfortunately there is politics in all sports.

Cardiff had bigger boys, it's a subliminal message inwhich you're trying to imply that we roughed you up stopping the beautiful football game you play with our rough hoofball tactics. ;)
